Loren is a girl like any other - but with dreams larger than all the nine lands.
Loren has grown up in the forests of the kingdom of Selvan, raised by cruel parents who see her only as a burden to be married off as quickly as possible. But driven by whispered tales around campfires in her youth, she has always dreamed of something greater. And something darker as well.
After 15 years of toil, when the wishes of her heart have very nearly died out, a spark arrives to rekindle them: a half-glimpsed coat of blue, dodging through the trees of the Birchwood. A wizard. A man from the outside world. A fugitive.
Escape. The Nightblade Epic, Volume 1 includes Nightblade (Book 1), Mystic (Book 2), and Darkfire (Book 3).

Fab narrator and I really wanted to know what would happen next.
Awesome battle between Xain and Vivien.
The narrator is very good. I'm not always a fan of American narrators but her voice is very pleasant to listen to.
I definitely got tearful at one point and there were multiple touching moments.
This felt like great value with so much content. The author's other books are great reading too.
"couldn't finish it"
The lead heroine really gets on my nerves . She acts like an arrogant spoiled brat in desperate need of a spanking before she gets herself or someone else killed . I am taking it in small doses hoping she gets better . I like the idea of his story line and most of the other characters, so I'm hoping she gets better .
"I wanted to like this book"
There were three main things that made this book just impossible for me to get through. First I have a pet peeve about authors trying to sprinkle in touches of old English with words like "mayhap" every other sentence to make their work sound more accomplished. Second, The character development is painfully nonexistent - not only that but the ages that characters are supposed to be do not match up with their actions, reasoning or speech. Lastly, the first ten hours seem more like an authors brainstorm than an actual story. The plot lacks direction for the first eleven hours and I refuse to dedicate another 11 hours to find out if Garret Robinson can find his story.
This book seems aimed at an adult audience but written as though the audience has the education level of an average 12 year old. I will be returning this one. don't waste a credit.
"Most Poorly written book i have ever listened to"
The Dialog in this story is childish and unimaginative, I can't even finish it. The story line is basic, simple and completely predictable.
Write with more depth and imagination
I have been reading books since I could start reading. I am 59 and usually am reading and listening to more than one book at a time. 90% of my reads are science fiction fantasy. I never write a review to a book but this book compelled me to.
I found both the story and narration annoying. The plotline is lacking. The voice acting for a few of the characters made me kringe.
"Great Storytelling and Awesome Narration"
I love this as a series overall. Everything you could want from a main character meaning moral dilemma's and the need for action. The best part is that I feel the story is far from over and that excites me the most. I love the way Hillary Huber was able to make the characters voice so diverse I feel she had a great understanding of the story. This thing is just the realist and I am glad it finally has an audio book. Not one to normally buy audiobooks but after reading the kindle version once and the hardcover version I had to have the audiobook. It's a great story that I know I will come back to time and time again. Props go out to both the author and the narrator. Well done.
LOVED THIS BOOK. LOVE THE WAY THINGS ARE WRITTEN
I really was concerned about the well being of Lauren from her parents at the beginning. ITS AMAZING
"not worth your time"
The narration was good, but the voices for most characters was cringing to stomach. The characters constantly whine and piss and moan and do things against what they moan about. One event with one off the side kicks made me especially angry. There are millions of great books out there. Find one of those.
"You know nothing Gem!"
Glorious mixture between Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones!!! Riveting & edge of your seat suspense! The narrator is on point!!! I can not wait to read the rest of this series!! or listen to it!! Must you read/listen! You will not be disappointed!
"A story worth your time."
First I will say, I recommend this book. Secord I will say something of the character development, it's good. third the plot story line and all else is good, plus narration.
Didn't care for the story Didn't like the lead character. It was....well....sophmoreish. I'd pass on it.
