Summary

If you lost a piece of your memory...

Would you trust yourself to have made the right choices...

In the moments you can't remember.

The Ferox assault has been escalating, drawing Jonathan into combat more and more frequently. With each passing day, he's grown stronger. He can't be certain, but his attackers seem to be getting...more dangerous?

...and, of course, Heyer is gone, again.

Then came the glitch. Unexpectedly pulled from battle, Jonathan finds he cannot recall the final moments of his last confrontation. Convinced that his memory loss was no accident, he must uncover the truth.

His only leads are a less than helpful artificial alien intelligence, and Rylee, a mysterious and possibly crazy woman, who seems to think they share a history he doesn't remember.

With no means to contact the only being who can give him answers, and knowing he has gaps in his memory, Jonathan must make every move uncertain of the consequences. The blonde man better show up soon, because events hidden in Jonathan's lost memories may trigger a war humanity isn't ready to fight.

The Never Paradox is book two in The Chronicles of Jonathan Tibbs, listeners who have not yet completed book one, The Never Hero, will have difficulty following.

Parental Warning: This series attempts to keep swearing to a minimum. However, the sequel has one unavoidable usage of the F-word. This is due to its presence in a direct quote taken from another piece of fiction.

Fantastic Follow up

What made the experience of listening to The Never Paradox the most enjoyable?

There are some satisfying payoffs from set-ups in the first book, as well as from within the book itself. Also as a deconstruction of superhero themes it is not disrespectful of dismissive of the source material.

What about Steven Barnett’s performance did you like?

Steven Barnett nails each character,

Every bit as good as the first book

I was hooked on the chronicles of Johnathan Tibbs from the get-go and this book follows on beautifully. There are some really clever ideas and some lovely turns of phrases. I have book 3 already downloaded and will enjoy that as much I am sure.

interesting character study, great world building

I love this story, the characters are fascinating dissection of classic tropes, and the world building is inspired and harshly relavent to the story's portrayal of religious and philosophically ideas.

The reason behind the 4 stars to story is that there are parts I thought dragged with exposition but this parts are still filled with thought provoking conclusions or suggestions of the human spirit.

Would recommend to any science fiction or fantasy lover. Or anyone with an interest with subtly religious alogories.

This was worth waiting for

I reread the first book before starting this one when I read it in e-book format. However, I listened to the audio versions close together. Oh wow! This story keeps getting better and better! I can't wait until number 3 comes out. I hope it is soon - I want to know how it all ends and how the author explains everything!
And Steven didn't disappoint - he is such a great reader and he reads the books so well - I wish I had listed to the audio book before reading the ebook as then I would have had Steven's characterisation in my mind as I read.
