Publisher's Summary

Everyone deserves to get away for a bit. Even the miscreants at St Mary's.

Astonishingly, Dr. Bairstow has declared a holiday. Even more astonishingly - he's paying for it. Needless to say, there are strings attached. They have to record the 1601 performance of Hamlet, with Shakespeare himself in the role of the Ghost. It doesn't go well, of course.

With Dr Bairstow and Mrs Mack turning a simple visit to a street market into a public brawl, Professor Rapson inadvertently stowing away on a vessel bound for the New World, and Shakespeare himself going up in flames, it would seem that Max, of all people, is the only one actually completing the assignment.

    "Brilliant!"

Loved this story. Rip roaring tale full of energy and fun. Great to catch up on what happens after the huge events at the end of book 7 (no spoilers) and, as always, love Markham. Listened to it in one sitting, then immediately went back to the start and listened to it again. Can't believe how Jodi Taylor can cram so much into one short story. Favourite line? Possibly that Matthew is not to be used as a draft excluder. Naughty Jodi to stir up the mud again over Markham's status - trying to avoid spoilers again! Love, love, loved it.

"A classic St Marys featuring Bill the flaming Bard"
If you could sum up The Great St. Mary's Day Out in three words, what would they be?

    Lighthearted, classic, romp

Who was your favorite character and why?

A certain, Bristolian member of the security section is always my favourite character - becuase, well, the Gods love a trier

Which scene did you most enjoy?

The post romp interview in the directors study is always fun

    Any additional comments?

Zara Ramm is simply the best narrator I have yet heard in 200 audiobooks

    "Too short!"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Wouldn't recommend as the asking price is too high. 1 credit for 22MB. I'm a huge fan of Jodi and Zara but I wouldn't have bought this if I had noticed how very short it is.

    "Okey dokey"

And Ms Taylor does it again! This time it is mayhem in Elizabethan London. As always, I loved it. These characters are well developed and, by now, well loved. The underlying humour with which the telling of this tale is threaded makes it another rounding success for St Mary's.

"Full of joy and humour, an excellent short story"

I'm not a fan of short stories but this was excellent, packed with humour and full of favourite characters from St Mary's, up to their usual escapades and amazing escapes. Every line was a joy.

I adore Jodie Taylor's tales of St Mary''s, and hope there may be more to come. Sara Ramm's voice and delivery are the perfect choice for their rendition.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Great St. Mary's Day Out to be better than the print version?

The worst thing about Jodi Taylor's Chronicles of St. Mary's is that one inevitably gets all caught up, and THEN WHAT??? I love the characters in this series, the narrator is phenomenal, and I can't get enough. Please, Ms. Taylor - please give us many more!

As usual the adventures of the st Mary's team have you in stitches - what sets out to be just a day trip to watch hamlet of course goes pear shaped
Only bad thing - it was too short!

    "As I Like It"

I think Taylor and the St Mary's world may be at their best in short form. I love the books, but there's something about this condensed format that allows Taylor's wit, characters and her knack for cooking up a truly fine disaster to really shine. And the short stories hone in on one particular historical scenario which also seems to allow a kind of focus that does the stories good.

All told this is one of my favorite St Mary's installments, had me smiling from beginning to end.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Great St. Mary's Day Out to be better than the print version?

This book contains spoilers for things that happen in Lies, Damned Lies and History (Chronicles of St. Mary's book 7).

    "WOW!"

Young Farrel has a bit part - hope to hear more of him. The setting of the Globe Theatre in the London of 1601 just perfect. Thank you Ms Taylor for this free gift - a real bonus.

Jodi Taylor and Zara Rammed combine yet again to produce audio magic.

This is NOT a good work to introduce you to the world of St. Mary's. One will enjoy this much better if one already knows the characters. But for those who know Max and friends, this short story is absolutely great--perhaps even my favorite.

I like these novellas, they're great for a commute. The combination of author and narrator is symbiotic; Taylor creates characters for Ramm to bring to life.

It's like Denis the Menace in a group, you never know what kind of trouble they'll find and then how are they getting out of it. Max, Peterson and Malcolm are my favorite.
This has something to do with Shakespeare.
