Summary

Here's a fantastic ghost adventure story, laced with menace and humour.

When a baby escapes a murderer intent on killing the entire family, who would have thought it would find safety and security in the local graveyard?

Brought up by the resident ghosts, ghouls and spectres, Bod has an eccentric childhood learning about life from the dead. But for Bod there is also the danger of the murderer still looking for him - after all, he is the last remaining member of the family.

A stunningly original novel deftly constructed over eight chapters, featuring every second year of Bod's life, from babyhood to adolescence. Will Bod survive to be a man?

quirky and enjoyable

A quirky and enjoyable 'listen'. It is the sort of book that you wish was the start of a series. I found that I wanted to know 'what happened next' ?

Fantastic story enjoyable for all ages

Fantastic story and brilliant characters in true Neil Gaiman style, enjoyable from beginning to end with great narration by the author himself. Not just for younger people I’m 51 and loved every minute. Perfect story for All Hallows / Samhain. Lastly there’s one thing I would like to ask of Neil Gaiman, please make a sequel 😊

Very good

Really like the story and especially enjoyed Neil’s inimitable narration. The one minor blight was the slightly annoying music that played on for far too long and too loud over the start of each chapter making it hard to hear the story itself.

Truly wonderful

It is a story like no other.
Beautiful and haunting.
It is billed as a book for a younger audience - but this is a story that will grip any heart - no matter the age
