A man with a child in his ears. Currently hoping that WRAS will read his Amazon review comments.
I wonder if this series is now settling into a pattern; one medium action scene setter followed by an absolute fire cracker of a follow-up to deliver on the promises made. This one is most definitely of the fire cracker variety and the action is unrelenting delivering in the Arisen style that we’ve come to love. Hopeless situations rescued either by extreme badassery or incredible adventure – in fact I think it’s worth warning people that this one possibly pushes the envelope even further. Fair enough, if you want just gritty realism zombie books probably aren’t your thing, just be prepared to dial down your logic chips at times in this one.
The narration? It’s the grand master Bray on his home turf and he owns that turf. You know what you’re going to get from him, he delivers every time in this series and this is no exception. The story focuses on the action in the away teams primarily and doesn’t have the rather choppy feel of the previous book which seemed to be pulling a few too many strings together at once.
So, my love affair with rotting corpses and the heroes that are defending the last vestiges of humanity from them continues and I’ll wait impatiently for the next one. You feel the series probably has to end some time but while Fuchs can deliver such compelling action and a little humour here and there including aping Jurrasic Park slightly I have to say I’m in no hurry for it to finish.
Arisen is hands down the best Zombie action series I have ever listened to. R C Bray is the perfect man to deliver the characters voices to. Its a win win of high production action. That a movie version would find hard to match.
Every book in the series focuses in slightly more on the point of view from one characters perspective more than the others, so it changes from book to book. But overall juice is my personal favorite because he is a tech. A Tech and a bad ass to boot.
He is just great. If I meet him I would shake his hand and thank him for the pure audio pleasure I get from one of his masterful deliveries of a novel.
Dead is not Dead, till your shot in the head.
I will keep reading. Please keep writing.
ok it is a little drawn out but it is still enough to keep you drawn in waiting for the next corner although you know there. is bound to be another story before the eventual end or is there
Father of 2, born in the 70's, love SiFi, was avid reader now an avid listener, makes dog walking in the rain that bit more bearable!
I am a massive follower and avid reader of the "Arisen" series, this is another hit as far as I am concerned, I keep trying to find another ZA series to listen to along side this, but nothing comes close. If you want to read this start at the beginning and go from there.
Unfortunately, the authors must be giving up their creative credibility to drag every last cent out of this series. Bring it to a close!!!! You will be showing respect to those that have already overspent on this series that if delivered in half the volumes would have been twice as good. The formulaic writing is tiresome and the realism is being stretched too far....just how many times are we going to be told it's certain death...to find it wasn't!!!
I love listening to books while I'm driving. I enjoy listening to books from Simon Scarrow, Stephen King and Jack Campbell
I've listened to every book in the series so far and can't wait for the next two books
I have read/listened to a lot of book series...(like A LOT), and this is by far the best I have ever listened too. All of the books in this series are great, including this one. And R.C Brays performance adds a great deal. Can't wait for Book 11.
Really distraught that the next book isn't out on audio yet!! Can't RC Bray record faster? 😉 Love this series and his narration!
"An excellent continuation of a great series."
I've listened to a ton of audio books, but as far as the 12 Arisen books I've listened to so far, I'd rate this one in the top three (behind Exodus and Genesis). It's definitely one of the better books in the series.
This story has finally merged the Standalone arc with the main one. It's been a long time coming, and I'm excited to see where it goes from here.
This one ranks towards the top. Just when I thought I had become familiar with the range of characters he can portray, he goes and throws a couple new ones, complete with their own inflection and accents, into the mix. He's an excellent reader.
There were a few giggles here and there, but nothing extreme.
This book is nearly end-to-end action, which is in no small part to the previous book being a bit on the stagnant side. What I mean by that was that it served as one giant setup to this one. I'm a huge fan of this series, but it really feels like many of these books can be paired directly to another and combined into one cohesive narrative. This aspect of the series has always felt like a money grab to me. With that aside, I still maintain this is an excellent series, and well worth the read/listen if you're looking for a decent Zombie Apocalypse story with a focus on action. This is seriously good stuff.
"This series just keeps you wanting more"
Mr. Fuchs, Your ability to transport me , to take my mind to another place and time. I felt I should be holding onto something the whole listen.
"an extremely entertaining saga."
I enjoy each and every one of the books in the Arisen series. looking forward to the next one.
"Excellent ZA writing"
This series is one of the best ZA series in terms of character development, writing style, storyline, etc. the narration is also excellent. It is very difficult to find ZA books with this level of writing, so I highly recommend.
"favorite series in my favorite Genre,"
can't wait til the next book in this series, a month will be to long
Love these books they hit my zombie spec ops craving right on the head.
But seriously well done great book just love the homework done in all the books when it comes to the military side, the small details count for me and I'm sure many others. Gotta make a Rv series outta these books. Anime would be a great way to show off the gore.
Again well done and can't wait for the rest 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
"Never a dull moment."
I listen to each book in this series almost straight through. The story is engaging. I am the proud aunt of a real operator so I know the level of dedication operators truly have. I know my Ranger protects the USA with all he has. This is fiction at it's best. Thanks again RC Bray...you rock!
The best review I could possibly give this book is,hurry #11 please ,this series keeps get better
"one of the best in the series"
I was getting kind if tired with how drawn out the series is. This book had some real substance. reiterating some of the same points is still an issue, but i feel like this book moved the plot along more than the previous several books.
I am eager to get to the end, and will keep buying these books like crack. as soon as each is available.
