The story continues to unfold and surprisingly keeps getting better. Thoroughly enjoyed this audio book. Not overly complicated with strange names. You don't have to guess what he is telling you in the story. Flows and keeps you wanting more.
Well done Ryk Brown, Keep up the excellent work
"A good space opera"
At last the Aurora is on the way home to earth, fully stocked and almost a full crew. It is not a boring journey. There is experimentation with the jump drive and lots of excitement, action and suspense with a black hole. The reader keeps wondering are they going to get home?
The book is well written, the plot is well developed and new characters take a prominent role in this episode. There is lots of action and suspense and as with most sci-fi one must allow the imagination to run free. The ending is a cliff hanger.
Jeffrey Kafer does an excellent job narrating the story. Kafer is a stage actor, voiceover artist and an award winning audiobook narrator.
"Simply moves the story along...."
While still great, Book 7 did not deliver as much excitement or plot development as previous novels. With an entire expanse to travel, I would have expected many more events and trouble on the crew's journey back to Earth. Worth a listen to keep abreast of events that will play out more in books 8 and 9.
"The long trip home"
It certainly suffers the middle book syndrome. But its still a good listen. If you like the characters and style its just fine. There are a few new wrinkles added and a minor mystery for now which could grow. This isn't meant to be a negative review and I don't want it to sound like it. This book sets the stage for whole lot more which could be interesting if played out right.
I still can't recommend this series enough! Tim the first book or two to fully flesh out the characters but now, I love it!
"Another excellent installment the Frontier Saga."
Very good sci-fi, good narration. Author is a bit heavy-handed on the details at times.
"verywell done! Now make the movie!"
it rings of voyager ,nxt gen and enterprize! awesome! Now go make a movie! ok
"The Inauguration was held"
While listening to a book, I've never been one to empty the Kleenex box or disturb others by laughing like a hyena. I've never pounded the ornamental pillow trying to help the hero or tensed up so much my muscles didn't want to work during "chapter break". Until Ryk Brown's
The Expanse. This Sci Fi masterpiece is mesmerizing made so with the talent of Jeffery Kafer! The plot has everything; the characters are sharp, clearly defined; the action/drama is nonstop. The best part? "Nay- ton" realizes he is qualified, the one to be The Captain! Listen to the last chapter when he is sworn in! This series just gets better and better!
"Good story subpar performance"
All character sound the same, male or female. Except for Cheng, who is Russian but sounds more like a German Canadian.
