Summary

Arthur C Clarke is without question the world's best-known and most celebrated science-fiction writer. His career, spanning more than 60 years, is one of unequalled success. Clarke has always been celebrated for his clear prophetic vision, which is fully on display in this audiobook, but there are also many stories that show his imagination in full flight, to the distant future and to far-flung star systems.

SciFi that doesn't date

I've always loved Clarke. He is the master of Hard Sci-fi and the king of the SciFi short. This collection is both well written as would be expected and well delivered by multiple readers.

Genius

This is collection of pure genius. If you are a science fiction person then treat yourself! I find myself trying to escape real life just to catch some pure time to enjoy these works.

Collection of short stories

After enjoying some of Clarke's later work I was interested to listen to these older stories. There are some interesting ideas floated, but I ended up finding myself disengaged from the narrative, and honestly a bit bored. IMHO I think the main problem is that it's difficult to develop compelling characters with so little verbage.

Inventive Early Work

These are stories from Arthur C's early work, many from the 1930s and 1940s, and therefore some have a dated feel.

However, they are, almost without exception, brilliantly inventive, many of them highly prescient, and most a delight to hear read. The quality of the readers enhanced my enjoyment.

Enjoyable short stories by Arthur C. Clarke

Some great some not so great but I did enjoy all the short stories in different ways. Some narrators better than others.

As usual Audible chapters are terrible if I really like a short story it won't be easy to go to as the chapters aren't named in the menu.

revisit

I grew up with these stories and had forgotten most. They were serialised in a magazine in 70s called Speed and Power.

ACC was way before his time. A scientist writing fiction but you always felt what he put over was very possible/probable.

The collection of really good stories

I think about ACC, is that the science fiction remains secondary to the story, which makes it all the more believable
