What the world dreads most has happened because of a mutated avian bird flu (H5N1) pandemic. It has ravaged the globe. Only 2% of the population has survived. A dying mother knows that her young child is among the few remaining immune to the virus. What will she do to ensure his survival before her own coming tragic death?
Meanwhile, Graham has buried his last remaining family member. Following his father's advice to make it to the family cabin, he meets with triumph and tragedy; learning new rules along the way. Just when he thinks he's finally got a handle on this new world, he's taken by surprise, as he learns he's not alone. A hidden yet vulnerable community of Preppers are nearby. Will he find the strength to escape these dangers and go on living? And more importantly, will he have the ability to protect those he's come to trust?

It was advertised as a post-apocalyptic medical thriller. It was interesting to read about a purposeful community of preppers. I like the characters and yes, it was somewhat slow at times, but I liked the time that was devoted to story development. I am definitely reading the rest of the series!
Kildonan by the sea
How this book made it to publication and then to audio book I will never know much less understand.
A five year old boy is given to a survivor of the pandemic and they go to hide for the winter in a cabin. That sentence takes eight chapters in the book. Two dogs get killed as the main action. The rest of the time is the dilemma of which bikes they will take, one is pink not a good colour for a boy even during a pandemic. That is the level of this literature (and I call it literature to be sarcastic).
Then you have the narrator; at first I thought he was terrible, then I realized that it was the sound of a man having his spirit crushed by a horrible task.
The editors and producers of this book should be ashamed to sell something so below standard,
This is my first one star in 12 years.
"Predictable, un-entertaining and returned."
Very basic story that makes no sense, AT ALL! Not even worth a free credit. I made it through five chapters waiting for a reason to not return the selection. The most interesting story line ended after a sick nother leaves her kid with the main character. When she died so did the story.
"If you like post apocalyptic novels, you'll like this one."
Not a great novel, but worth the read. The story was good with a few unusual twist. It got a little stupid right at the end, But it was still fun to read.
"FOOD FOR THOUGHT"
THOUGH FICTION, THIS STORY MADE ME QUESTION MY STATE OF PREPAREDNESS IN THE CASE OF THIS EVENTUALITY.
"Good but a little short"
A good 3.5 post apocalyptic store. Filled with fairly sold carictors even though the prepers a a bit to perfectly prepared. I did feel the story is about 2 hours to short I usually hesitate using credits on anything shorter 10 hours but I used one other next story in the series and it's even shorter
You will enjoy this book I liked the characters and the writing. I'm sure you'll enjoy the listen particularly if you're into this type of story line.
"awesome book about survival."
loved this book! you quickly learn to love characters. great story. can't wait to read the next two books.
"Good storyline.... Bad narration"
I'm tossed up on this one.
No. His voice progressively became very monotone & almost mumbling at times. He only did one character's voice. The rest of the characters mostly just blended in with the sentence. The terrible narration almost caused me to return the book!
The book was interesting. I just can't understand how a good author would allow a narrator to ruin what would have been a wonderful read. I will still get book 2 of the series, although I see that is unfortunately the same narrator.
