I confess to bias. I preordered the book and downloaded Battle of the Void at the stroke of midnight. Yes, the other books in the series are that good! Fox outdoes himself in Battle of the Void. The plot is fresh and maintains my interest in the series. Luke Daniels has improved his narration and has created new voices for more characters. Yes, I got irritated as he mixed accents in earlier stories The story line is fresh. He does a superb job of unpacking and developing the Xaros. Fox and Daniels kept me on the edge of my seat as mere mortals do battle with "Uberbeings". Fox explores and develops the characters of several of the Procedurally created humans and doughboys. I enjoyed getting to know more about Makarov.(forgive my spelling as I only listen to the Audible versions of books). The book ranks high on my short list of great SciFi.

    "Another well-written/well-told series continuation"

This book has the fight to save humankind from the Xaros being waged on two fronts; one with the 8th fleet against the earth-bound Zaros drone armada fighting Zorro and the other with the Breitenfeld venturing into Mad Malal's lair with the quest of acquiring a potential key for ultimate victory.

As with the previous installments, there is a lot going on to keep the story interesting, along with the introduction of a few new species; one of them being Sergeant Torni. Yes, she exists on ... sort of ... and still, always a marine.

This is a great series. The writing is clean with a well planned, imaginative story arc and exciting plot twists throughout. Luke Daniels continues to impress with a seemingly endless stable of unique and recognizable voices, bringing life and personality to each character.
I'm looking forward to the next installment and highly recommend the series to anyone looking for exciting science fiction military drama.

Story is excellent, the performance is exceptional and I'm cranky that the next book isn't available!

Well done team, you've delivered a masterpiece again!

    "Just gets better and better"

At this point I'd say that this is one of my all-time favorite sci-fi series. The feeling of breadth/complexity in the universe rivals that of Hamilton or Banks. Unlike most of Hamilton's work, Fox's writing doesn't take long to get up to speed. I've found myself immediately immersed in every book.

The continuing advancement of the humans and their preparation for the next wave could have been a less-exciting filler. Fox didn't do that. In fact, a lot of the build-up was kind of skipped over in a way that leaves the reader empathetic with the disbelief of characters who didn't witness it.

Excellent job maintaining numerous plot lines and keeping everything consistent and clear. Ancillary note:a lot of operas tend to try to narrate both at the top and at the level of individual Marines. The lower levels often feel like they're not fully fleshed out. Not the case here. I care about the Iron Hearts, the Marines, even the Proces. Not only that but the reader can see that what they do affects the larger plot. They matter.

I like the glimpses of the Xaros - even they (and Malaal) are given treatment so they're not one-dimensional evils.

Narration: I'm a big Daniels fan. His performance here is what I've come to expect... freaking awesome. He brings the characters to life in a way very few other narrators can.

I'm definitely in this series for the long-haul. Heck, after this series ends I'd be interested in a spin off series about Ibarra's machinations leading up to the first attack.
