A legendary enemy attacks....
Galactic peace is threatened....
Unless one man can find and stop the Atlantis ship
Carson Mach, a former war hero turned freelancer, seeks the biggest payday of his life when he's tasked to hunt down a ghost ship that has echoed through the centuries. The legendary Atlantis ship has become a reality, appearing at the Commonwealth frontier and obliterating an orbital station.
Facing a lack of resources, a ragtag crew, and aliens who want him dead, Mach must use all his leadership skills and experience if he's to beat the overwhelming odds. His mission will take him across the galaxy and to uncharted dark areas of space.
Failure to stop the Atlantis ship will mean not only the death of Mach and his crew but the end of the Commonwealth and all of humanity. Somehow Mach must find a way to solve an ancient mystery if he's to succeed where everyone else before him has failed.

"Great ship battles, daring prison escapes, orbital stations, and a legendary ghost-ship, this is what space operas are made of!" (J. P. Grant.)
"I really enjoyed Carson Mach and his off-beat crew. The Atlantis Ship combines the best of Star Trek, Firefly, and Battlestar. This is my new favorite space opera. I can't wait for the next one!" (Steve Riven)
I could not finish listening to this book.
The narrator did ok, with what I found to be a very frustrating story filled with unlikeable, amoral characters.
I found myself being more involved in how the book was written than the storyline,
"Very Good Story, Looking Forward to the Next Book"
This a decent story, although a little on the short side. It wasn't the best I've read, but definitely good enough to earn 4.5 stars.
The story centers around a former navy captain who was discharged for his recklessness and lack of respect for authority. Now a freelance captain, he occasionally takes on contracts from the navy to take care of problems that the navy doesn't want to get involved in directly. When a mysterious and extremely powerful ship attacks a local space station, he is bailed out of jail and hired to track it down. This particular ship has achieved myth status throughout known space, having been seen by both sides in the previous galactic war.
He manages to track down old friends that he has worked with in the past, including breaking some out of prison, and sets out to do what all believe to be an impossible task.
I thought that even though the story was good, that the characters could have been a little more believable (hence the 4.5 stars). I thought the author may have gone a little overboard when creating the main character as constantly reckless and outright crazy as he was in the story. Other than that, I really can't point out too much else that wasn't great.
It would appear that this series is written in more of a TV series style (with the books containing the same characters but with totally different plots) rather than a sequential story line, which is unfortunate because I really liked the concept of this book. But, this was definitely good enough that I will be buying the next in the series.
I was a little worried because the story is relatively short but there is great plot and character development. It is a pretty fast pace book but doesn't make crazy leaps leaving you bewildered. Overall I thought this was a great book.
I f'ing love these books!!!! The narrator is up to the task of bringing even more life to these amazing stories.
"Predictable but enjoyable"
The story is very predictable and the characters are thin. The performance was outstanding and made this an ok distraction.
"Pretty darn good."
If any of you listeners follow any of my post on audible, you will know that I do not wright many reviews. Why you ask? Simple if the listen is better than average then I pop my 2 cents in. It did take me a while to warm up to the narrator, but I feel that he is a good person for the personalities of the story, I like the collaboration it works well.
Enjoy folks !
Just couldn't listen to that annoying forced low voice, over dramatic in every sentence. No idea how good the story is because the reader got in the way.
"Implausible depressing stories"
This is one of those stories where everything is going wrong all the time. They keep blowing up their ships and stuff just happens to work at the last moment through luck. And a friend took out a contract to kill him to help him? Really? Good thing audible has a refund policy. The voice acting was so so. The main voice was very irritating but the other voices were well done so the voice actor definitely has talent. I did not like the character he picked for the main voice. It sounded like an 80's dj.
"Great concept, but poor execution kills it."
The story and concept are great. Execution suffers here. Narration is good, but there are too many problems with the basics.
Captain Mac sounds like a fun character, all the crew starts out so. But they never develop. In one scene near the end of the story, one of the crew dies. Its a twin, and obviously the other twin should be devastated. But the whole "we are here for you" scene is just gratuitous- it doesnt fit with the characters. It COULD fit, but the author doesnt do enough development with the people on the ship for it to really jive.
Another scene and they are fighting in zero g with some robot thing.. They shoot it and disable it and it "crashes and skids along the floor" -- zero g though, remember? The characters and the robot were floating - the characters still are after the battle, but the dead robot develops gravity?
And what was the point of the admirals story line?
These are just a few examples of the MANY problems. Again, this is a great concept. But execution suffers, this is more of a story outline or screen play than an actual book.
"Good Sci-Fi Drama, but a bit slow."
This book was a decent Sci-Fi Drama. When the big battle happens, it is over in a hurry. It is predictable at times. It takes a lot of time to set up the conflict.
Really good story, fun characters and interesting topics. But had some plot holes, felt rushed and predictable.
