After the first wave of outbreaks and infection, the blood has not even had a chance to dry before Shaun and his friends are forced to disobey his father's wishes, to stay where they could be safe at the families' cabin and away from the unknowns of their new bloody apocalyptic world.
The zombies are just as vicious and hungry as in book one and never satisfied.
From their first trip into town the zombie apocalypse war begins, survival and taking care of each other is key.
The search for the cure is America and the world's only hope. The government put out a plea for anyone that might know anything about the spread of death.
The government very quickly figures out that Karen was patient zero at the hospital outbreak. They also find out that Frank Fox is the one responsible for developing the drug. None of them knowing about the backstabbing acts his assistant Rogers had done to him.
While the government waits for help, the military sends in a team of Navy SEALs to try and speed up the process, hoping that they can find the research that they need. The soldiers find the apocalyptic world a bit more dangerous and chaotic than they had expected.
Shaun and his friends run into the SEALs and together they embark on a battle to find the cure. Shaun has his own emotional issues to deal with, as he learns that his dad was the one responsible for it all.

The book was awesome, and so is the audio version. Easy to listen to, clear, and well read.
"Exciting intriguing and keeps you wanting to read"
in the second book Shawn and the group find themselves faced with things other the just zombies everyone it looks better things can only get worse not to mention Mike makes u wanna care about everyone in the group even if you shouldn't care
As second books go this was an amazing journey. The orphans get the help they need while also giving help. This book is so good at teaching the value of teamwork in surviving. It also raises the question of what would our military actually do in a situation like that? I love the direction this series is heading. It makes up to the long backstory that happen
I nearly gave up on the first book in this series, but stayed with it and book one paid off at the end. This book picked up where book one ended very nicely. The only issue is it never goes anywhere. The story is enjoyable but in terms of progress, it is sorely lacking.
"awesome book and jack wallen brought it to life"
Orphans Vol. II was a amazing story, Mike has a way with words that really making you fall in love with the characters and the story. You feel a heart break if something happens , your heart is racing through the hole back its packed full of auction. Non stop. It keep me up all night listing as I could not stop listing to this book every time i tried i just had to pick it back up and start again
Mike give you lots of reviews of stuff that happen in book one to keep you mind fresh for what went on
Jack Wallen, Jr. is an excellent narrator and i loved his interpretation of the different people in the audio version.
The moment when the Seals sent the information to the General and then were cut off.
Shaun is the best character, of course. Its like a parent watching his kids grow up, but very quickly due to the circumstances.
For me it was when Kristy died, was unexpected and had high hopes for Greg on maybe settling with this one!!
"I would say this book rated a 4 1/2"
