Kill the infection! Kill the infected!
In the aftermath of the battle for Monk's Island, Murphy has been nursing Zed back to health in a remote house at the west end of the lake. But every day they see helicopters cross the sky, heading south and then back north again. Zed wonders if the helicopters are proof that not all civilization has collapsed. He convinces Murphy to seek out the place where the helicopters are landing so they can find the answer to that question. What they find at the end of their journey is both more dangerous and more hopeful than either would ever have guessed.

"Does not disappoint!!"
Thank you Bobby Adair for keeping the journey alive. You've got a fan in me- !
"Slow Burn is Well Done!"
Another excellent addition to this series. I don't know how Bobby Adair writes these so fast and so well but I hope he keeps doing it. Zed and Murphy are back and facing down the infected, the slightly infected, the uninfected and some new threats. Sean Runnette does a great job (as always) by adding just the right amount of drama and sarcasm to the narration. Slow Burn is well done and worth a read/listen.
"Why change the narrator?"
Sean Runnette's voice falls on my ears like nails on a chalkboard.
Sorry, Bobby. You lost a listener with the change to Sean. It's a shame because I really enjoy the story
"Bring back Jason Damron to narrate!"
Nope. I was really into Jason Damron's narration. Sean Runnette is just not doing it for me. I can't tell when Zed is talking, or if it's Murphy or some other character. I would buy this again if Jason Damron did the audio.
Sean's narration sounds as if your dad is reading to you; whereas Jason totally delivers the smart ass comments and utterances of the characters. Sean's just reads. Jason acts it out.
BRING BACK JASON DAMRON! He is totally believable as Zed, in particular, and Murphy, and the other characters.
"Love the series but not the new narrator"
I've enjoyed every second of every book of this series but I'm afraid the narration on book 7 is a far cry from the first 6. I can only presume money was a factor in going to a new narrator?
the original narrator did a great job of changing voices to capture zed and Murphy and others they came into contact with like sgt. dalhoover and also a great job of creating suspense during tense moments with his inflection and sense or urgency. unfortunately the new one seems to have only one voice in his repertoire and no sense of the story itself as he reads at one pace with the same tone and inflection whether the characters are fighting for their lives or relaxing alone in a quiet moment.
luckily the characters and writing/story still feel like the prior books enough to make the series worth reading but for those who choose to do so it might be best to buy the paperbacks after book 6 or the disappointment in missing Murphys little laughs or zed's "whatevers" may be too much for many to overcome. book 8 is out on paper now...let's hope the author realizes how much was lost from changing the narrator and goes back to the original one before the series loses its audience and is forgotten
Can't change the narrator mid series! So disappointed in the change! Why? Ruined the audio
narrator ruined the book the original narrator was way better, planning on returning the book can't even get through the first chapter
"Change in Narrator does NOT work for me"
I love Zed and Murphy. I love the way the characters mesh well with each other.
Zed, Always Zed.
I am sure Sean is great reading other books, but I loved the narrator of the other books with these characters. His reading of these characters fell short and fell very flat for me.
"All Hale Sean Runnette!!!"
Thank you for changing the narrator! Sean is a great choice!!! makes this series that much more enjoyable
being from college station tx, i cant wait to see where the next book is going
