one of those books that you have heard a million times, but with a slightly innovative storyline. oddly feels like the book has been written on the basis of a film, it is full of Hollywood rubber stamps and clinches
"Genetically Modified Conspiracy"
The story is X-Files meets Invasion of the Body Snatchers with The Thing thrown in for good measure. Nothing good can come from Big Pharma and Big Agro in cahoots with desperate, ruthless aliens. And when the aliens exist among us undetected in strategic government and law enforcement positions... what can stop them? Season of Harvest has an interesting premise centering on the real life explosion of genetically modified food. There is action and some suspense but the story is somewhat weakened by the "romance" of the two main characters which seems forced. There are other parts that also did not feel genuine to me, like the missile silo/research stations. And I did not ‘feel’ the cat angle either. It was well worth my time and credit but it left me feeling it could have been better. Overall a 3.7.
"WOW!! Orginal Plot That Will Have You Thinking!"
Not what I thought the book would be and that was refreshing, even if it was a little scary.
The FBI agent, Jack and the cats. I'm a cat lover so I enjoyed the author giving cats an important role in the story.
No, but he was good. He kinda added to the "errie" tone of the story.
Yes, I will never look at food and what we can do with it, the same. It gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "You are what you eat!"
I was shocked at how much I really enjoyed this book and the storyline is something everyone would enjoy. Buy the book, I am sure you will enjoy too!!
"Excellent beginning to the trilogy!"
I gave this a second read to refresh my memory before starting book 2. It was a good the 2nd time as the first. I can't wait to see what comes next!
No, just more convenient .
Love his voice, his inflections where spot on making the book much more enjoyable.
Hard time turning it off, which is not good for work.
"Awesome work. Mr. Hicks has outdone himself again."
Excellent story line and fantastic character development. You find yourself hanging on every word wondering what happens next.
"would be a great movie"
this was a good action adventure type story how long the lines of Jurassic Park or other Crichton books. the author made enough detail to make the story pretty believable even know it was way out there in terms of the basic premise. I love the aliens or creatures trying to destroy the world theme , and GMOs where a good route for the story. I don't happen to believe GMOs are really a threat of any kind to anybody but it was still good for a fiction story. the reader was excellent and fit the characters well enough.
"Substitute Monsanto for New Horizons"
This audio recording had me riveted from the opening sentence until the very end. It is a work of well written science fiction, yet aside from the whole alien theory, there is a kernel of truth to it that eating GMO's can be fatal to the planet.
I recommend this book.
"Great book! very well done with a great GMO twist."
very well written and keeps you interested the entire time. the government conspiracy with alien and GMO twist the Great put together.
"Conspiracy theory at it's best"
So well written and read...hard to remember it is only a story & not fact!
I must admit at first I didn't think I liked this book. I then figured I may as well listen to it as I had bought it. I am glad I did I was drawn in and I hated to see it end. I thought this was a very good book and a excellent wake up call on GMO's
I really hated to see one of the main characters die at the end but it was very heart warming what he did to help her through her disease when she was dying
Fantastic , very good with the whole book!
The end was sad and good in finding what happened
and then book two is coming with the end left the way it was.
