Danger lurks in the shadows...A place where the brave tread warily... Jack Walker has returned from the rescue of his girlfriend with a small band of survivors. Their harrowing journey from the Middle East included a stop at the CDC where they learned vital information about the ferocious new species that hunt at night. The night runners dominate the landscape and a world turned upside down by the sudden death of billions. With humanity on the brink, the small group must carve out a sanctuary against the nightly onslaught from night runners on the prowl for food. They must enter into darkened buildings in search of supplies; darkened buildings that are now the domain of the night runners.
Danger lurks with each step and death lies in waiting for the unwary. Jack and the group must stay one step ahead of the game; a game where the night runners continue to adapt to this new world. Will his training and instincts be enough? Will this last remnant of humanity make it through this next phase of survival? The shadows await... beckoning.

Total Amazing Action
Mark is miles better than whom ever narrated book two listened to.
I thought book 1 was slow and book 2 was good but the narration was terrible but now i see book 2 has Mark narrating it so go for that one because it is a good book. This book however is great it is fast paced all the way through and there is a very sad part in it with Nic but even with that the action keeps you wanting more. Really enjoyable book they are getting better just downloaded book 4 :)
"OK...SO THIS WAS THE BEST ONE YET! ON TO BOOK 4!"
Its decent...and it is a good story about a man who really cares about others..and a great will to survive!
Its PA Zombie fiction...take your pick...lol All Zombfic is a little different...and the zombies are unique usually...John's zombies are Night Walkers...almost like vamp zombies....but they want more than your blood...and the bite is not contagious...
In this series only...and in this one..he really broke through to my heart, as did John with this book...this is what I was waiting for..EMOTION! It was raw and very well written and I liked it....That is one of the reasons I like Mark Tufo's books...he makes me laugh...and he makes me cry...and he builds his characters into real people for you in your mind....that is what John did for me in this book....and that is what I need in a series, if I am going to invest in it my money and my time! YMMV...but this is what works for me!
Again...I think this would transfer to film or tv very nicely...
FINALLY JOHN!! You broke through my Icy little heart...lol Just kidding I am a softy...This book finally bonded me to this group and made me decide to continue this series, or at least move on to book 4....I cried for Jack....and when he had that premonition near the end, I screamed for him...and I was like...Yep...you dragged my heart in...lol Each book gets better and better...so if you have any doubts people...keep going...because I have a feeling this series is going to be fantastic from here on out....3rd book really was the charm for me!
What I see when I take a mental look at this series so far is a man who really cares about others, and has a will to save people and survive...his family is important to him, and if he brings you into his circle, you are now his family...I see a man who will do whatever it takes to save what is left of humanity...But I fear that the night runners will not only be who this group will have to end up defending themselves against here pretty soon...But Other survivors..as that's what is ALWAYS the MOST dangerous thing in the Zombie Apocalypse!
Also a little side note...the Night Runners seem to be coming back into there humanity a bit mentally...VERY INTERESTING!! I gotta see where that goes...especially with the kids mom...she was kind of kidnapped wasn't she???
"Oh the replays..."
just as it gets good...then rhe replay happens. oh the horrors! I dont need a replay from a different POV. Makes me want to take an M4 and empty a mag into my phone!
l love this series. a different twist on zombies or night runners. Would recommend the series.
"Why John Why!"
I dont want this series to end, i need more Jack Walker and the night runner adventures!
"Supermarket Shopping Monsters Anyone"
Yes, John makes good stories overall, Mark yes but he chose a Horrible voice for this character
Most interesting the trips to get other survivors, Least interesting having to hear from the creature's perspective (Michael and Sandra) ruins the survival horror element.
Mark needs to take the cartoonist edge off Jack's voice.
Yes overall good story just some things doesn't make any sense.
Really like the series and overall story and will finish it out but feel the Author is messing up the story just to attempt to make it more exciting. the Night runners, now eating can goods, and stocking up food, having mental telepathy going from mindless primitive creatures to now sending visions and communicating mentally, and strategizing is makes no sense and is making the story a little corny.
"Then Jack became a moron."
Last of these books I'll listen to. When trying to survive it's apparently best just to run into each situation guns blazing. meh. The story tries to make out that Jack is a smart soldier/survivor but his every decision seems poorly thought out and designed to get everyone killed.
Store full of an unknown number of enemies? Everybody rush inside and start shooting! It's the only way! Well that's over and got a bunch of people killed. Now is a great time to run to another city with no plan right?
The annoying plot points only get drawn out more when you get to hear them twice as seeing it through Jack's eyes the first time wasn't enough. You'll get to relive it all, again, immediately, but with unrelated random flashbacks thrown in.
"Excellent, can't wait to start the next book"
Excellent narration, gripping storyline and storytelling. Listening to this while working at my shop, several times I've over stayed my planned leaving time just to finish up a chapter.
Not bad. Story is a little flat and not much "progress" is made through the course of the book but still a good casual story that doesn't take up much mental space.
Although the details can get boring at times, overall the story was great as expected. Can't wait till I start the next one in the series.
great story, but tge narrator is a bit monotone, in a bad acting macho-man way.
