Publisher's Summary

Joe Laribeau was now Salvage Merc One. It was a position way above his days of being a Galactic Fleet Marine. Endless resources, powers and abilities that rivaled the Eight Million Gods, and the full resources of the Salvage Merc Corps behind him. It was the life.

A lonely life.

But, the artifact that had chosen him to be Salvage Merc One was about to change all that and put him to a true test of his abilities. A quest was set before him. Impossible monsters, nightmares turned reality, his own greatest fears come to life, Joe was about to face the greatest mission of his life. And the cost of failure could be his very soul!

The second novel in the hit Salvage Merc One series, The Daedalus System is non-stop action, adventure, intrigue, and inter-dimensional horror, all told by everyone's favorite snarky Salvage Merc, Joe Laribeau.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I really didn't enjoy this one, so no... I couldn't recommend it. But that doesn't mean others won't enjoy it.

What could Jake Bible have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I don't know. If I was on acid, it might make more sense to me, but I just couldn't follow the story line. And there was too much "Foe 'n Crud" in the dialogue. The Faux 'n Crud just kept coming, and I thought "If I hear that guy say Foe 'n Crud one more Fauxing time I'm going to stop listening to this Faux 'n Crud and do something productive.

Have you listened to any of Andrew B. Wehrlen’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I haven't listened to any of his other work, but Andrew has a great voice, and a great delivery style. Unfortunately the dialogue he was tasked with delivering just didn't click with me.

Was Salvage Merc One: The Daedalus System worth the listening time?

I tried. I tried three times actually. But I never managed to finish it. So No... for me it was not.

    "Was just plain stupid."

The First book in this series was ok so I decided this one was worth a try.Big mistake. The story was all over the place . The main character turned into an idiot. The only saving grace was Joe's assistant also the narrator was good.

    Story
    "That Fell Apart"

Not sure WHAT happened to *this* book in the Series.. I've enjoyed previous books by Jake Bible, and Salvage Merc One, Book-1, was pretty decent... But THIS book was like it was written by a different author ENTIRELY... It seemed to be searching for a plot, and after not finding a plot to work with, it QUICKLY devolved into "Over-The-Top Pure Silliness", "14-Year-Old Fart Jokes", and "Gross-Out Sequences" that didn't even relate to what little thread of plot there WAS...

I hung in there with it as long as possible, however, An hour before the book finished, I started "30 Second Advancing" the book, and finally just gave up on it as it got WORSE...

Andrew B. Wehrlen did the best job with the Narration that COULD be done with the Material He was reading.. NOT his fault that the book fell apart.

I've been an Audible Platinum Member for over 13 Years now, pushing 800 Books in *MY* Library, and 500+ Books in My Wife's Library... We've NEVER ONCE Returned a Book (I look at the overall member ratings, and then make the decision to buy a book or not, so I figure if I buy a bad book, it's *MY* fault)... But I ALMOST Returned THIS Book, Because after going back and reading ALL of the WRITTEN Posted Reviews, I have NO IDEA how this book got such a High Overall "Star Rating"... Seems like I see LOW Star Ratings in *Written* Reviews, about 5 to 1 AGAINST the Overall Higher Star Ratings. So once again, I find that I'm not sure AT ALL how the rating system actually calculates "Overall Ratings" now... However, just from some "Quick and Dirty Rough Calculations", the Higher Ratings seem to be weighted 3-4 times Higher than the Lower Ratings...

IF the Ratings *ARE* being skewed to represent Higher Overall Ratings than Books are *actually* getting, then I'll HAVE to agree with other LONG TIME Members who are beginning to say Books' Ratings are being increased just to sell more books.. AND, with the Ever-More-Frequent "Captcha Verifications" that I'm having to suffer through when I sign in to my account, I'm starting to also suspect that what other users are saying about "Bots being Used to Rate Certain Books Higher", has more than a little truth to it.... *IF* that's the case, then I'm going to start returning Books like this one. Skewing Ratings to sell a book/product is just WRONG. Period! I'm willing to give Audible the Benefit of the Doubt since they ARE obviously TRYING to stop "A Rating-Bot Problem".

If you can't judge a book by it's cover, AND you can't judge a book by accurate Reader Ratings before buying a book, then it's NOT *MY* fault when I buy a bad book based on "Overall Reader Ratings" (Which are ACTUALLY "Overall BOT Ratings"). I'm starting to base my Purchases ONLY on the HONEST "WRITTEN" Reviews by a few other Long-Time Members who "Post their *HONEST* Opinions about Books", which OFTEN closely mirror MY tastes in Books, Rather than based on the "Overall Star Rating" of a Book... Like those Other Long-Time Members, I'd rather post my HONEST Opinion about a Book, than worry about "X of X people found this review helpful" (I HONESTLY don't care AT ALL how many people agree with me or Not, and I care Even LESS about what a "Bot" "Likes").

Lately I've also noticed that when LONG-TIME Members Post Written Reviews with LOW Star Ratings, those ratings QUICKLY begin to pile up with "LESS people of X people found this review helpful".. That's *STUPID EASY* to do with a Simple Bot Script, and it has "The Ratio Patterns" of many Bots operated by Paid Companies who SPECIALIZE in designing Bots to Increase the Ratings of Product Reviews, and DECREASE the Weight of Negative Reviews of Products, at places like Amazon, eBay, etc (i.e. "They Rate a Certain Book/Product HIGHLY, MULTIPLE Times, And NEGATE Lower-Star Reviews by 'Disagreeing with a Written Reviewer's Lower Rating,")... From the Available Evidence, "Bots" are starting to be a REAL Problem on Audible, Amazon, etc.. Otherwise there would be NO need to Verify Valid Logins with "Captcha Programs". Having a "You Last Logged-In On X-Time/Date" notice on the screen when you log-in to Audible, would GREATLY help Members who have compromised Log-Ins and Passwords (without Knowing it) see if THEIR account is compromised and being used by "A Bot Company" to Log-In and Skew Book Ratings for a Fee.

Since I buy A LOT of Books on Audible, I Log-In to Audible's Website A LOT, So Of Course Audible is GOING to make me do the "Captcha Verification Routine" more often than people who only Log-In a few times per Month... However, in all fairness, Not only am I being Aggravated MORE OFTEN by trying to figure out VERY HARD TO INTERPRET Captcha Letters/Numbers SO I CAN SPEND MY MONEY on this Website, But I'm also wasting A Lot of my Money by buying books based on "Bot-Inflated Star Ratings". C'mon Folks, that's just NOT Right!

I buy about One Book Per Day on average to listen to as I work around the Ranch and Travel... That's a LOT of wasted money when the overall "Star Ratings" don't *REALLY* Represent the Quality of a Book.

Having Said all that.... Sorry, Not only did this Book *NOT* Make My Bunny Hop, But my Bunny finally rolled it's eyes, and went to sleep.

"I want this into a tv series."
Where does Salvage Merc One: The Daedalus System rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Probably at the top just for the entertainment value. Joe is a nut and I want to have a beer with him but I'll just forget him in a minute.<br/>

What other book might you compare Salvage Merc One: The Daedalus System to and why?

The Dark Matter comic book comes to mind.

Which character – as performed by Andrew B. Wehrlen – was your favorite?

Mgurn by far. Joe would be nothing if not for him.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I was laughing through most of it but I wouldn't say extreme just constant.

"The Merc with a mouth (not deadpool)"

The Merc with a mouth. In this case Andrew Wehrlen is that mouth, or at least his voice. Joe is salvage Merc one and he is about to be tested for worthiness to war that title. After that test neither the corp, the bosses, joe, the Merc one position nor the test itself will ever be the same. Joes smart mouth, battle legs and all his skills will be pitted against worlds filled with carnivorous ants, sea monsters, lakes of boiling blood, creatures and tests from earths earliest mythology, talking trees, talking doors and more. Love this series this author and this narrator. Keep them coming!!! I received this audiobook from the author narrator or publisher for free via audiobookboom in exchange for an unbiased review

"An enjoyable listen, several times over"

I have listened to this title a few times already because I like the story, which narrator Andrew Wehrlen brings to life. This is my 3rd try to post my review and I have now forgotten what I had originally written...what I can remember is the desire to experience more by both the author and narrator, even after my 3rd listen.
