Publisher's Summary

Scott Sigler's Infected shocked listeners with a visceral, up-close account of physical metamorphosis and one man's desperate fight for sanity and survival, as "Scary" Perry Dawsey suffered the impact of an alien pathogen's early attempts at mass extinction. In the sequel Contagious, Sigler pulled back the camera and let the listener experience the frantic national response to this growing cataclysm.

And now in Pandemic, the entire human race balances on the razor's edge of annihilation, beset by an enemy that turns our own bodies against us, that changes normal people into psychopaths or transforms them into nightmares.

To some, Doctor Margaret Montoya is a hero-a brilliant scientist who saved the human race from an alien intelligence determined to exterminate all of humanity. To others, she's a monster - a mass murderer single-handedly responsible for the worst atrocity ever to take place on American soil.

All Margaret knows is that she's broken. The blood of a million deaths is on her hands. Guilt and nightmares have turned her into a shut-in, too mired in self-hatred even to salvage her marriage, let alone be the warrior she once was.

But she is about to be called into action again. Because before the murderous intelligence was destroyed, it launched one last payload - a soda can-sized container filled with deadly microorganisms that make humans feed upon their own kind.

That harmless-looking container has languished a thousand feet below the surface of Lake Michigan, undisturbed and impotent...until now.

Part Cthulhu epic, part zombie apocalypse and part blockbuster alien-invasion tale, Pandemic completes the Infected trilogy and sets a new high-water mark in the world of horror fiction.

    "what a way to go!"
Where does Pandemic rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

best audiobook of 2014 so far

Who was your favorite character and why?

doctor feely good! such a contrast of characters traits all mixed up in one person makes for unexpected twists in the story

What about Phil Gigante’s performance did you like?

I first heard Phil Gigante perform Scott Siglers NOCTURNAL and it took me a couple of episodes to get used to his voice as its so deep, but he is very professional and draws you into the narrative until your fingers are clenched and your waiting with baited breath for what's coming next!

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

its an apocalyptic story so its going to have its gory moments that fill you with revulsion and fright , but it also has its lighter side that made me laugh out loud and a few where the story brought a tear to my eye

    Any additional comments?

this is the 3rd in a trilogy so if you haven't read(heard) the first two I would definitely urge you to seek out the first two, if you haven't heard of scary Perry Dawsy and his eye watering scene with the chicken scissors then you haven't lived!

    "Simply Brilliant"
If you could sum up Pandemic in three words, what would they be?

    Intelligent, unrelenting, brutal.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Why Dr Tim Feely of course. Read it and see why

Have you listened to any of Phil Gigante’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Phil seems to improve with each production. Is voice is so smooth that you just fall into the story. His voice acting is great and he never misses a beat between characters. Some effects on the voice a little hard to make out but they sounded awesome.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book made me laugh out loud, cheer, shed a few tears, and the punch the air and cheer some more.

    Any additional comments?

Scott Sigler never disappoints. It was the first book in this series that got me hooked on his work and this third part Pandemic as ended it every bit as dramatically. Although following a three book arc, each book has it own style and feel and sense of dramatic tension and desperation for the characters.
This book is an epic of carnage, chaos and destruction but at the same time is funny engaging and will make you shed a few tears as well.
If unfamiliar with the trilogy do yourself a favour and start with 'Infected' and I guarantee you will be back here very soon to snap up this ball busting adrenaline ride of a concluding tome!

    "Great story"
Where does Pandemic rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Having listened to most of Scott's work which is wrote and recorded by him I was a little worried about listening to a new performer but Phil Gigante did a great job on Scott's work.

    Any additional comments?

I am not sure if it was because Scott was not the reader but the book did not feel as exiting and edgy as his other books. I would have liked Scott reading his own work but if it meant getting more books from the FDL with another reader, give me the books.

So many twists and turns and unexpected paths down which the story travels. As ever with Sigler, the journey is always richly regarded!

Loved the last instalment. Writing excellent as always. Strange not to hear Scott Siglers voice reading, but the narrator did a wonderful job.
Highly recommend the book, but read the other two first to get the best out of it. You will soon turn into a junkie

    "Triangles are back!!!"

Firstly, I listened to the other books in the series on podcast where Scott Sigler does the narration. Sometimes he sounded a little crazy with the different voices but I grew to love it as he gave his characters the personality he wanted with their tone and pitch so when I listened to this, although it was still read well I felt a little detached from the characters because they weren't quite as I remembered them. That being said it was still nice to find out what happened to the world in the end and the characters we had come to love or hate from the previous books. It felt unnecessarily long to me but I'm still a fan. In conclusion it is well read but too long in my opinion.

"Not as good as the first two."

Good narration. Irritating music. Bad writing in parts spoiled it. Some shocking and gruesome moments that were well written and cringeworthy bad writing in others. Predictable ending.

"Not as good as previous books on series."

Though I did enjoy Book 1 & 2 of Sigler's series, this book just didn't interest me as much. It was interesting enough to keep me listening, but at some points I had to force myself. The book seemed to jump around more, and I wasn't as invested in the characters.

"All I can say is wow"

This is a perfect winding up of the infected trilogy, with imagination, real science, and deep, Spellbinding character development. If you have read the first two books and you like science fiction with more then a Smattering of horror but don't have to have zombies, this is most definitely for you. The narrator brings this book to life expertly and vividly write down to the difficult foreign accents. Thanks for reading.
