In Off the Grid, Jane goes on what looks like a simple mission for the Knoxville blood-master - finding a missing Mithran. Her search leads Jane to a young woman named Nell, a woman with a scarred past and a strange power, a woman who may hold the key to saving the missing vampire, if Jane can convince her to assist.

I loved this story, In fact I love all the Jane Yellowrock books, and Khristine Hvam did a fantastic jab as always. My only criticism is the price. It was a little expensive for such a short story, and it hasn't been made available for kindle so you can only buy it as an audio book.
I am a Wife, a Mum and a Grandma. I am also strong willed and wilfil at times. I have worked all my life and drempt for wining the lottery
This shows Jane working as enforcer and problem solver - no emotional involvement with the other main characters
When Jane and Beast go down the side of the cliff
I enjoy the way she portrays Beast
No major emotions it was not an emotional story as far as I am concerned. Worthwhile listen.
I thought it was a little expensive for less than two hours listening but I am a sucker and will always buy any new Jane Yellowrock.
"Lot of action in just 2 hours!"
Off the Grid was originally published in Black Water, a collection of Jane Yellowrock and it takes place between Blood Trade and Black Arts.
Jane is set to the Knoxville, TN area by NOLA Master suck head, Leo, to help solve the case of a missing vampire. Jane finds herself in the middle of a sicko religious cult that treats the women (and girls) has their “heavenly play things”.
While Jane is figuring out what the missing vampire has to do with the cult she runs into a young woman in the woods named Nell.
It doesn’t matter if the team of Faith Hunter and Khristine Hvam get together for a 16+ hour audio or for one that’s just 2 hours long like Off the Grid, they are going to grab you with Jane and entertain the hell out of you.
Off the Grid was a fun and action pack listen in the Jane Yellowrock universal and a nice way to introduce Nell Ingram the leading heroine in Hunter’s “Jane spin-off” series, Soulwood. The first book is titled, Blood of the Earth and it will be hitting the shelves in October 2015. And a little birdie told me that Khristine Hvam will be the narrator. So I’m super excited!
Ever read a story and catch yourself "improving" on the writing? I have never had that experience with Faith Hunter. Her plots, character development and turn of phrase are delightful. This story is no exception even if it is way too short.
As with all of the Jane Yellowrock stories, the narration is great. I've never had to cringe at the southern accent nor been stopped short by mispronunciation of a treasured concept. And Beast? She is purrfect.
Love the continuing series and the narrator. she brings life to Jane and Beast! I will continue to follow the series in book and audio forms. Purs enjoyment.
"Always a pleasure to read anything in Jane's world"
I love these short stories that involve characters not usually seen. This story opens up the possibilities of future inclusion of various personalities. I look forward to their stories.

"Yet.another awesome Jane Yellowrock tale..."
Faith Hunter. .Fabulous. .Jane Yellowrock fan for life..Can't wait until the next book in the series is released
"Short story packs a punch"
This short story is a bit darker than some of the longer novels. I hope the magic in the land element can be expanded later as I found that fascinating. The cults abuse of women and children was delicately handled but I still found it disturbing ... which it should. I did cheer when Yummy went off with her prey.
"Solutely amazing! Incredible! Thank you!"
this was yet another amazing journey into James yellow rock' s life. thank you Faith and thank you Christine for bringing this amazing character to life. I can't wait for the next one
I enjoyed the new character Nell. I can't wait until October for her book to come out.
Another great story from Faith Hunter.
