With their numbers diminishing and the alien armies growing stronger, Sophie's biosphere decides to join forces with the team from NTC's submarine. Using data from a surviving satellite, they discover strange, alien poles at each of the world's seven highest summits: alien technology that the survivors believe may hold the key to shutting down the alien ships once and for all. That's not all, the satellite also reveals an encrypted set of coordinates that reveal SOS messages from US Military bases around the world, all activated on invasion day - except for one: Offutt Air Force Base. But before the two teams can launch an offensive, the biosphere must deal with sabotage from within and a strange nanotechnology that has infected several of the survivors.
As tensions rise, Sophie and team must decide whether a new discovery at Offutt is worth abandoning the biosphere. The more the team learns, the more they realize the planet may be beyond saving and that salvation may require leaving the planet forever.

"HUH? What just happened?"
First off, I liked the finale to the story but it was a little different. The alien drones have some very interesting and odd masters.
The main characters have been fleshed out a little more so that they are a little less stereotypical but not too much. The marines are the best part and their sense of honor and determination. The scientists have proven themselves and most of the mystery is solved.
"Excellent addition to a great series"
Over the last year I have followed Dr. Sophie and her team in their fight against the aliens. From Cheyenne Mountain to a sub beneath the ocean and now to Mars. I became invested in the fate of Smith's characters. I wasn't sure how to feel about the ending at first, but now I want to see what happens next. One fight may be over, but the fight for the human race continues. This is the type of book that will stay with you long after you turn the final page. It is a shame it isn't in paperback. I would gladly make room on my bookshelf for this series.
"Attenetion to detail"
Great series with no true hero not touch by danger or death
Sophie the main character
Orbs downfall of humanity
At the end of Redemption a good leader would have scouted out the towers before attacking to probe the defenses of the site. And even sent one of the drones with the device in to end the threat of the Orbs defenses
I cannot believe it ended this way. I loved it. I'm still in shock and disbelief. Onto the prequals!
"this cant be the end?..."
besides switching up narrators for this book I don't recommend that you get your hopes up for the action of the past few books I hope that they end up with another book wrapping this all up and the survivors ending up victorious but it is realistic?
we need another sequel guys!!!!!!
"could have been better"
if there's not going to be an orbs 4 then this book sucked, if he plans on continuing the story then it's worth reading.
It was obvious from the beginning that it was the end. But was drug out through 3 books. Nothing in the last book had any redeeming qualities 2 books was enough.
"Exciting and Compelling but Dark!"
Story is exciting, characters are engaging. However, I found ending grim. It is a well done ending but I found it depressing. I still feel my time was well spent and that Nicholas Sansbury Smith is an outstanding new author with a tremendous gift for storytelling.
At my age I have a more hopeful view for human race. I wish that the character, Dr Hoffman had hedged his bets better in planning at beginning. He could have developed more tools for fight and still prepared to leave Earth. You should definitely read series and decide for yourself. Is Hoffman more villain or hero? You decide.
I enjoyed new narrator more for Book Three of Orbs series., What do you think?
This 3rd boo was somehow in in unsatisfying to me. The whole build up to the possible win and then it not happening so fast is the problem for me. I'm fine with the solution failing, but it seemed to abrupt after all the build-up. Hopefully there is another book in the series and this book was a bridge to that. If it ends here, I'll be disappointed.
