'I didn't realize he was a werewolf at first. My nose isn't at its best when surrounded by axle grease and burnt oil....'
Mercedes Thompson runs a garage in the Tri-Cities. She's a mechanic, and a damn good one, who spends her spare time karate training and tinkering with a VW bus that happens to belong to a vampire. Her next-door neighbour is an alpha werewolf - literally the leader of the pack. And Mercy herself is a shapeshifter, sister to coyotes. As such she's tolerated by the 'wolves but definitely down the pecking order. As long as she keeps her eyes down and remembers her place, the pack will leave her in peace.

"The best new urban fantasy series I've read in years." (Kelley Armstrong)
"Plenty of twists and turns....Kept me entertained from its deceptively innocent beginning to its can't-put-it-down end." (Kim Harrison, best-selling author of Dead Witch Walking)
"I enjoyed every minute of it. I love Mercy and can't wait for her to kick some more ass." (Lilith Saintcrow)
I love this book so much I now have it in hardback, kindle and audio it is one of my favourites as you can see. Lorelei King really brought the story to life fabulous job. Overall no way will I be returning a book that is not only written by a great storyteller but read by a fabulous narrator.
Yes - it has a good story, the principle character is very likeable and the narration is excellent
Its in the same lines as the Sookie Stackhouse ( but without the sex) and Jane Yellowrock ( our heroine is also a shifter ) stories. It is set in our world but where Vampires and Werewolves and other Fey characters are very active. There are some subtle differences and the Werewolves have a bigger role than Vampires in this book - bit of a hint in the title there. If you like the Stackhouse/Yellowrock books you will probably like this
Not yet but I will and hope she is as good in those
Made me laugh in a few places
Enjoyed it and will be downloading the next book in the series soon
Great narrator and an entertaining story. Love the lead character - no nonsense and good sense of humour. Will have to listen to the rest now!
Yes I would because Patricia Briggs is a great author
Bitten by kelley Armstrong is similar having werewolves witches and monsters in the stories
When Mercedes is left with Bran by her mother
A great set
I loved this book, and I will definitely be getting the rest. Mercy is a great character. She feisty, funny and cheeky and she doesn't let herself be pushed around. I also really like the fake that she's not supernaturally strong or stunningly beautiful, she's just a normal woman who happens to turn into a coyote. It makes her much more believable and likeable as a character, plus we all love an underdog.
The narrator did a good job and has a pleasant voice, which made the book enjoyable to listen to as well.
Overall I really liked this book and would happily recommend it to others.
This is the 4th time I have listened to this audio book and would happily listen again. Weather it's good or bad, I have a thing for lorelie King's voice, she brings the book alive. I have listened to all books that she has narrated and she is amazing. This book and the whole series is fab.
"I love this book!"
It's on of my all-time favourite authors!
Sandy Williams "The shadow reader". Both are great stories, intriguing characters, good dialog, a mix between action and romance.
Just that I kind of fell in love with Adam a little bit...
it was an okay novel.. may be the author was building up a plot for future books but in itself..not bad at best
