Young Corban watches enviously as boys become warriors, learning the art of war. He yearns to wield his sword and spear to protect his king's realm. But that day will come all too soon. Only when he loses those he loves will he learn the true price of courage.
The Banished Lands has a violent past where armies of men and giants clashed in battle, the earth running dark with their heartsblood. Although the giant clans were broken in ages past, their ruined fortresses still scar the land. But now giants stir anew, the very stones weep blood, and there are sightings of giant wyrms. Those who can still read the signs see a threat far greater than the ancient wars. Sorrow will darken the world as angels and demons make it their battlefield. Then there will be a war to end all wars.
High King Aquilus summons his fellow kings to council, seeking an alliance in this time of need. Prophesy indicates darkness and light will demand two champions, the Black Sun and the Bright Star. They would be wise to seek out both, for if the Black Sun gains ascendancy, mankind's hopes and dreams will fall to dust.

Haven't read the book so i cannot tell you.
To be honest the twisting route of light and truth into the darkness inch by inch and decision by decision. Its a great rendition of a similar and familiar story we all know and love.
He is a solid voice actor , was confused by the random accents.
again I've heard this question its stupid.
Dear avid listener, this book has 2 min characters and 4-6 sub characters, it follows mostly two main lads are coming of age, one is a prince the other a blacksmith son. you dont quite know who is the good guy and who is the bad. I would recommend this to most people.
I was hooked from the start. I couldn't stop listening until the end.
I'm already downloading book two.
Good story and performance.
Definitely one of my favourites!
This is an audio book review.
It's not a good story. very predictable plot twists and its full of cliches, tropes.
The voice acting is good, though some characters and lines are jarring & just wrong. That is to be expected when the actor has to voice tens of characters.
I enjoyed the listen overall. recommended for a very long journey to fill time.
remove the narrators constant pausing.
with a different narrator
no no no ... and no
never made it past the first 30 mins
i listen to 3 / 4 books a month while driving and this is the first one i have given up on completely.
A great story with more than a little influence from Game of Thrones. The narration let it down a bit - seemed very rushed in places and lacking tension at exciting moments. I checked several times to see if I had it on fast speed but it wasn't. I know its a big book but there's no hurry!
One of those stories that deserves a second read or listen to get all the characters in the right place but well worth the time.
I can't fully rate this audiobook because I didn't get very far. from what I did read, it had potential, but any potential was killed by the lackluster narration. With a better narrator that can bring different tones the book would be much better.
sentences were clipped with too much gap, so sounded like wireless headphones kept losing connection. Either that or the book is a bunch of sentences recorded independently then stitched together
I didn't really want to compare this to GoT but the narrative and story line of the book just lend it to just that comparison, and it falls way short. The characters are dull and unengaging, if fantasy is your thing this may be for you, for me, an occasional fantasy reader, I was not drawn in enough to care about a 2nd or 3rd book
No! I couldn't listen long enough to make a reasoned judgement. If my friends wanted to listen to, or read this book, it would have to be their own decision.
No! Again, as with the previous question. Having abandoned this audio version of the book, due to the narrator, I would not offer an opinion to a friend, except to warn them about the awful narration.
I didn't listen to more than the first two chapters, and that was down to Mr Lynch's terrible rendition of this book.
I can't answer this question, as I didn't get far enough into the book to make a judgement.
I had high hopes for this audio book, as it had good reviews. All I can say is that I must have higher standards than the others who tried this book. I was NOT impressed. The book may well be as good as people say, but I just could stand to listen the narrator ruin it. Perhaps I'll try the printed version.
