This is a collection of short stories featuring the alternate history detective Lord Darcy. The four included here ("A Matter of Gravity", "The Ipswich Phial", "The Sixteen Keys", and "The Napoli Express") were first published in the magazines Analog Science Fact & Fiction, Fantastic, and Isaac Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine.

I would always try another Garrett, but would make a point of avoiding Villar-Hauser.
As well as reading in a way that misses the sense, he can be relied upon to mispronounce English, French, Irish ... It grates from the first, but becomes really irritating by the end.
"Great book, average reading"
The story is great - good detective/noir/magic yarn, some of it based off the most famous detective/noir stories (Holmes, Christie, Hammett).
Victor must learn what punctuation is all about.
He stops in middle of sentences, stress wrong words, etc.
