Summary
The end is coming.
Logen Ninefingers might only have one more fight in him, but it’s going to be a big one. Battle rages across the North, the King of the Northmen still stands firm and there’s only one man who can top him. His oldest friend and his oldest enemy. It’s time for the Bloody-Nine to come home.
With too many masters and too little time, Superior Glokta is fighting a different kind of war - a secret struggle in which no-one is safe and no-one can be trusted. His days with a sword are far behind him. It’s a good thing blackmail, threats, and torture still work well enough.
Jezal dan Luthar has decided that winning glory is too painful, and turned his back on soldiering for a life with the woman he loves. But love can be painful too, and glory has a nasty habit of creeping up on someone.
While the King of the Union lies on his death bed, the peasants revolt and the nobles scramble to steal his crown. No-one believes that the shadow of war is falling across the very heart of the Union. The First of the Magi has a plan to save the world. But there are risks. There is no risk more terrible, after all, than to break the First Law.

Fantastic Conclusion to Memorable Trilogy
From the start of Book 1, this series has just motored ahead, completely engaging you due to the expert pacing and judicious twists and grand scenes. The various characters are distinct and 'realistic' for the genre, and their development thru the trilogy is believable. Abercrombie tips his hat to the giants and cliches of the fantasy genre, with obvious allusions to Lord of The Rings and ASOIAF books. The wit of this writing is clear to see, and the narrator here performs it perfectly, was happy I followed previous reviews and invested the many many hours listening to this series.

You have to be realistic, this is fantastic
Once again Steven Pacey brings his brilliant narration to such a bloody enjoyable book. Every moment is a joy, and this book puts Joe Abercrombie in the top spot for fantasy writers for me.

First class story writing and narration.
Once again the writing of Joe Abercrombie and the narration of Steven Pacey combine to take you on a journey into a world of plots and sub-plots and twists which I find very enjoyable. If only other authors and narratiors were half as good.

An excellent trilogy well thought through
Although each book is complete in itself the trilogy makes an excellent story which hangs together very well.

Outstanding Book
The quickest and longest audiobooks I’ve ever listened to. I’d recommend all three very highly. Great fun!

Really good narration
Great last chapter for the trilogy. Amazing narration, great rhythm and a must needed conclusion to this part of the storm. Grim an d gritty, yes, but also surprisingly funny at times.
