Publisher's Summary

The highly-anticipated sequel to After The Ending.

The Virus changed them, but that was only the beginning....

Death...mutation...insanity...corruption...terror - all that remains is hope.

In the wake of destruction left behind by the Virus, it took Dani and Zoe months to find each other. But their reunion was short-lived. Dani has been taken, and though little distance separates them, they might as well be worlds apart.

From the moment she hears Dani's scream, Zoe's only goal is to save her best friend. She and her companions scramble to come up with a rescue plan, but when a ghost from Jake's past reappears, lines are blurred, decisions become harder, and secrets are revealed; and some secrets are best left buried. To keep heartache and fear from consuming her, Zoe must cling to her determination. She WILL see Dani again.

Dani awakens inside the final hold-out of civilization: the Colony. Remnants of the former world surround her - electricity, safety, social order - but all is not what it seems. As she faces her most manipulative adversary yet, she loses sight of who she is and who she can trust. Friends become enemies, enemies become allies, and allies will betray her. Dani will have to decide what she's willing to do and whose lives she's willing to risk if she is to have any chance of breaking free.

This audiobook contains some mature content and language.

"Brilliant story very gripping and exciting"
If you could sum up Into the Fire in three words, what would they be?

    A must read!

What did you like best about this story?

The twists and turns and unpredictability

What does Natalie Duke bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

That she changes voices very well for each of the characters and really brings them to life.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

    Yes both.

    Any additional comments?

A really good follow on to book 1 and I can't wait for book 3 to get into Audible.

"Couldn't listen to more than a couple chapters"
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

HORROR A BLE I know that's not spelled right, but that is how bad it was to me. I'm not sure if the narrators acting wase why I disliked it so much, but I couldn't listen to much before having to turn it off. I really wanted to like the book since I love the genre and read the first book. After the same girls (that whine about everything and are so clueless I want to wring their necks) continue to be just as helpless and dumb in the second book, I just had to forget reading any more in this series. Like I said, maybe the narrator was the problem, and if I would have read the book, it wouldn't have been so terrible. I did though, and still can't get their annoying voices out of my head to even think of trying that. That being said, both authors have a lot of talent and I give any writer a ton of credit for writing a book. Negative reviews can be difficult if they put their heart and soul into the book, and I don't usually write negative reviews. Authors, that are good, always grow and improve, so I do hope to enjoy a book by either or both of them in the future.

Would you ever listen to anything by Lindsey Fairleigh and Lindsey Pogue again?

I'm not sure. Maybe if they change the narrator.

Would you be willing to try another one of Natalie Duke’s performances?

    Never in a million years

    Any additional comments?

I listen to a LOT of audio books since I don't have much time to actually sit and read a book, so I've heard a lot of narrators. Some are really terrible I wonder why the author(s) chose them to be the voice of the their book, and others just MAKE the book. PLEASE get a different narrator.

    "Much is Revealed"

Book 2, Into the Fire takes place over a week. It is a very fast paced book taking place in March 1-AE. Dani is taken by some colonists and the majority of the story is about her experience in the colony. This book answers a lot of questions about the source of the plague. We learn about "Regens" and a little about TR's and their purpose in this strange new world of the colony.

I liked the fast pace of this book and getting some answers and information about what has happened in the world and why.

A very good listen and have downloaded Book 3. I still feel annoyed with the narrators version of Dani which always makes her sound like a Dingbat.

    Story
"MG + Dr Wes = what the heck??"

It definitely did not take me long to crush this audiobook. I started it the day after finishing book 1 and it stood up to my expectations, possibly even surpassed them. Book 1 laid the ground work and Book 2 connected the dots. With the addition of another POV and some new characters the story continued on flawlessly. The author does a really great job of revealing some secrets leaving enough of the mystery to definitely keep the reader in suspense. As before I mentioned there is a colony, and well... Disneyland is still the happiest place on earth. I really enjoyed the fast pace timeline this second book followed as the entire book only takes place over the time span of one week. It just goes to show you how much can happen in a week. I thought that the characters continued on developing and adapting nicely, well as nicely as they could in a world that has just ended. The author does a great job in weaving and making me believe one thing while something else is happening entirely. I liked how the second book kept consistent with the new world that was created in the first book. From the moment this one starts it is action, action, action. Let's not forget the drama with parts of super natural elements too. This one definitely takes the series in the right direction. The narration was again really well done. The different voices that were given to the characters remained consistent while the new characters were nicely done as well. Pacing and volume were good too. I am sure there were some difficult scenes in this one too but you would never know it with this narrator as her performance was well done. So... in book 1 we had the cross country roadtrip, in book 2 we had character development and secrets revealed it looks like we are in for one helluva ride in book 3. Saddle up Wings we got a long road to go.
