Summary

Something strange is happening at the Orsk furniture superstore in Cleveland. Every morning, employees arrive to find broken Kjerring wardrobes, shattered Brooka glassware, and vandalized Liripip sofa beds—clearly someone, or something, is up to no good. To unravel the mystery, five young employees volunteer for a long dusk-till-dawn shift and encounter horrors that defy imagination. Along the way, author Grady Hendrix infuses sly social commentary on the nature of work in the new 21st-century economy.

A traditional haunted house story in a contemporary setting, and full of current fears, Horrorstör delivers a high-concept premise in a unique style.

loved it!

have to say, I wasn't that sure when I first started listening but I'm so glad I stuck with it, it was brilliant! apart from the bit with Trinity and her snot (which actually made me physically gag!) I thought the storyline was really good and I could picture it all in my mind. definitively worth a listen!

Surprised

I started the book and quickly wondered if I would be returning it.

However great characters, mix of humor and horror and a good narrator soon had me hooked.

Marvellously entertaining

Very dry humour, and you need to pay attention to the furniture descriptions and check out the pdf

Strange but good

Great storyline and really enjoyed it. My only bugbear was the “Amy said”, Basil Said, Matt Said. I struggled during these parts. But I do highly recommend listening

An Easy listen

Like all of his books it was something I could just have in the background. Vague amusing at times with a little horror. Kinda made me think "I need to get out of retail"

Brilliant!

What a great idea turned into a fantastic book! It was so quirky! I'm sure we've all experienced that sense of being lost and trapped in an IKEA before! I know this is one of my husband's worst fears!

The start of each chapter being an Orsk product that is then weaved into the storyline, getting darker and more horrific throughout the book was genius.

The story follows a group of store employees staying overnight to figure out what is causing the strange goings on. Throughout the story and their paranormal experiences, they discover more about each other and themselves.

The narration was excellent - the characters played well and distinguishable.

I cant express how much I enjoyed this and will definitely be thinking of it often and recommending it to others.

Note, this was a book club read and others in the book club opted for the physical book or ebook due to the pictures. But having found the audio version came with a PDF, I feel I got the full experience and would dare to say I probably enjoyed it a lot more than if I'd read the physical book or ebook.

OK

Book was ok not as exciting as the authors other stories. Was fine for a free book to listen too.

it was ok

I started listening to this as something to pass the time on dog walks and getting the housework done.

the idea was great but I didn't think it was as creepy as it could have been. maybe my head just wasn't in it and I will probably give reading the physical copy a go, and my review might change.
