Summary

Less than 60 kids awaken on a distant planet. The colony ship they arrived on is aflame. The rest of their contingent is dead. They've only received half their training, and they are being asked to conquer an entire planet. Before they can, however, they must first survive each other.

Hugh Howey is the author of the award-winning Molly Fyde Saga and the New York Times and USA Today best-selling Wool series.

Good story, weird production

A long short-stpry. Usual Howey style - action, adventure, easy to read. No real sub-plots.
The audio is strange, with lots of what sound like patches - a few words or a sentence out of place, different intonation, different volume. Almost sounds sometimes like a different narrator. Not so bad as to spoil the experience, but strange.

Brilliant spin on an interesting idea

Loved the ideas and the world created. What happens next? The only downside was the story was too short.

Lord of the flies but scify

The story is very interesting and gripping. I only wish the descriptions of animals and plants were more in depth.

Well told about the struggle against a bad situation

Rather let down by the reader

The way the characters "spoke" made them seen weak and failed to give an impression of any strong purposeful action. This is particularly noticeable in the voice of the female characters whose lines are presented very timidly. Maybe there was too much effort in trying to make every character speak differently. The best voice was that of the computer (very Hal like), which, of course, showed no emotion.

Disappointing

I came to this expecting something of the quality of Dust or Wool but it was nothing like. reakky it is nothing more than a mediocre short story with poor naration and lots of recording faults. Please don't wate a credit on this.
