Publisher's Summary

A small number of cameras have the ability to capture ghosts on film. This gift comes at a steep price; the ghosts are resentful and hungry, and the cameras offer them a rare chance to reach their favourite prey... humans.

Jenine doesn't know any of this when she finds an abandoned Polaroid camera in a lighthouse. At first she assumes the ghostly shapes in the photos are a glitch or a prank - but then the spirits begin to hunt her down, and she's forced into a deadly race to free herself from the camera's curse.

"Good story read by a 10 year old"

Really enjoyed the story. Thought it was a good concept and at times was downright creepy. However the narrator sounded like a monotone 10 year old. Would have been a lot better if it was someone else that actually gave the characters personalities and had emotion in her voice.

    "Loved the book"

I loved the story. I feel like it could have had a better ending, but it was good non the less. Really suspenseful and interesting. I love the author, she has other really good books too. But the narrator of this book in particular was awful. So monotone, and sounded like a 10 year old girl. It honestly was a struggle to get through the book just because of the narrator. But over all, I enjoyed the book. I just wish it was narrorated by someone different.

    "Creepy!!!"

Creepy yet very well written. Everything that the character could see, I could see and feel. The imagery creepy, yet hauntingly beautiful as the characters describe what they are going through.

    Story
    "Ghostly!"

This story was different and unique. I loved how the author Darcy Coates thought up of a story like this. It was ghostly, filled with mystery, and filled with twist and turns. I thought it was a great story and if you're in the mood for some creepiness, and ghost, then look nor further. This is the story for you! I received this audio in exchange for an honest review.

    "Click!"

Ghost camera or photographing ghosts is nothing new but this is a new twist for me. Great ghost story and just the right size. Not to long and drawn out but not too short either and the narration was good too.

    Story
    "Spooky Short Listen"
Would you listen to Ghost Camera again? Why?

No, but only because I have a pretty good memory of what I've listened to, if that weren't the case it'd definitely be up for consideration.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Ghost Camera?

The climactic scenes featuring the titular ghosts as it raced to the conclusion.

What does Maren McGuire bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She gives the characters emotions that read beyond what simply reading would've done. In the one main character's case I'm not sure if that's a positive, but she does play the character as written.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

In some ways, but because I knew that wouldn't be possible I didn't hold onto it too much.

    Any additional comments?

It was quick and spooky, and went at a rip-roaring pace. The only complaint I could have is Jenine and Bre's characters. It was almost as though the author took two people-worths of emotion and put them all in Bre and none in Jenine. That left it seeming unbalanced, but since it went quick that wasn't a huge problem. The performance was fine, but emphasized the same thing.
