Publisher's Summary

Deep below a desolate Utah mountain lies the largest platinum deposit ever discovered. A billion-dollar find, it waits for any company that can drill a world's record, three-mile-deep mine shaft. EarthCore is the company with the technology, the resources, and the guts to go after the mother lode. Young executive Connell Kirkland is the company's driving force, pushing himself and those around him to uncover the massive treasure. But at three miles below the surface, where the rocks are so hot they burn bare skin, something has been waiting for centuries. Waiting...and guarding. Kirkland and EarthCore are about to find out first-hand why this treasure has never been unearthed.

    "Brilliant. "

A slow start, but once it gets going, it's unstoppable. Gripping you refusing to let go leaving you wanting more. The story could translate into a low budget cheesy film. But as a book it's magnificent.

    "Great gripping story"

I first heard the original version via a CD on the cover of a magazine many years ago and enjoyed it then.
This re-write is just as gripping. In many ways this is better, although I do miss Scott's voice reading this. The voice acting is good and helps to add to the drama.
In several places it got my pulse racing.
A great book for people who like sci-fi adventures with a bit of the technical details thrown in.

What did you like most about Earthcore?

Easy flowing story, interesting characters, nice dark sci-fi. Have about 4 hrs left... always enjoy switching on the mp3 and seeing what's around the corner.

    "One of my favorite audiobooks!"

This is an excellent book, an excellent author and an excellent narrator! The world's first podcast only novel, now reworked by the author to better fit his universe, and narrated by one of the absolute best narrator's out there. If you like Joe ledger, read it. If you like Joe Rush, read it. You like Peter Clines, read it. If you like many other books that either straddle the lines between or sit solidly inside horror, science fiction or thriller, you should read this book. And the epilogue made me dance a jig! Seriously, Most of the books I've read by sigler are amazing! Especially the infected books and Ancestor.

    "Fantastic!!"

Release info shared by Mr. Peter Clines on FB. Love it! And narrated by Ray Porter...That's gold right there. This story has the feel and intensity of Mr. Clines "14" and "The Fold". Definitely a winner!

"Screams to be made a Spielberg movie"
Where does Earthcore rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Top 75%. Door definitely left open for the sequel.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Earthcore?

Not one but several: Psychopath Kayla philosophizing about what should happen to people who enjoy causing pain to others (hey, pot/kettle, you know?) And Angus philosophizing about what ought to be done to bullies (ignoring his own intellectual form of bullying - what a cowardly little creep.) Great character studies of the worst and best of us.

Which character – as performed by Ray Porter – was your favorite?

    Peter O'Donnell or Sonny McGuinnis.

If you could take any character from Earthcore out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Sanjee - what a decent, lovable man, and maybe the only character I wouldn't be afraid would kill me.

    Any additional comments?

Ray Porter was superb, of course. Often I actually resent the way some of his characters (Kayla, Angus, Veronica) get under my skin. New accent in his repertoire: Hippie Hopi Indian!

    "Great!"

Grips you from start to finish! I have not read any Sigler books, but plan to now. I strongly urge you to read this one. Masterfuly written and played out by the voice actor. I usually try to spread out books over a few weeks for my commute but I couldn't stop myself! I finished it in just a few days!

What did you love best about Earthcore?

Fast paced, bogged down a little bit in the middle, but overall kept my interest through the whole 19 hours.

What did you like best about this story?

The character development. I felt like I really got to know (most of) the reasons the characters reacted the way they did.

What does Ray Porter bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Mr. Porter is hands down my favorite narrator and was a perfect choice for this book. I have listened to almost everything he has done. This was an automatic buy for me, and did not disappoint.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Why is this not a movie already?

    Any additional comments?

Well worth the credit, highly recommend.

"Grabs you by the throat and won't let go!!"
Would you consider the audio edition of Earthcore to be better than the print version?

Yes! I think the audio version is better because of the excellent narration provided by Ray Porter. He made each character come to life in a way that fully immerses the listener in the story.

What other book might you compare Earthcore to and why?

I would compare Earthcore to Lycan Fallout because of the odds stacked against the characters and the fight to survive.

What about Ray Porter’s performance did you like?

Ray Porter is masterful in giving each character a unique voice, conveying passion, intensity and drama. There is no need to add "he said" or "she said" to any line, as he is able to distinguish each character so the listener knows who is speaking.

If you could rename Earthcore, what would you call it?

    The Depths.

    Any additional comments?

The book description did not do this book justice. This was an action packed, masterful story from beginning to end. Ray Porter was the reason I took a chance because a book about mining does not sound exciting; but this book was so much more. The best book I've listened to this year!

"PLANS MADE FROM AFAR, SOMETIMES CRUMBLE WHEN"

    YOU GET CLOSE
When I first saw this I thought, I'M ON IT, LIKE A PRIEST ON A CHOIR BOY. For the last couple of months I had been looking for something similar to Sigler's PANDEMIC. Believe it or not, I had even been thinking, why do authors ignore the center of the Earth. Not since Edgar Rice Burroughs or Jules Verne has their been much about a JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH. So, I was thinking THIS IS FU@@ING TITTIES AND BEER.

    Ben Bova
I enjoy most of Bova's writing, but he went through a period, where he wrote a series of books, involving space exploration and corporations. Those books, ended up being soap operas, with more about the hated CEO and less about space exploration. Sigler goes the same route. The first half of this book is all about mining and mining companies. It was a lot more information than I needed and not the type of drama I was looking for. As a couple of other brave reviewers have mentioned it is way too wordy and the characters are unlikeable. I can't remember the last book I read where, everyone is an Ahole.

YOUR STORY SOUNDS LIKE SCIENCE FICTION BULLSHIT
One of my biggest disappointments was the total lack of originality. Early in the book, when the solid mass of platinum is described, I knew actually what it was. I kept hoping that I was going to be fooled, but no, it was actually what I expected. The second half of the book, is a long drawn out gun fight. What the purpose was in drawing this book out to almost 20 long hours is beyond me.

One theme that goes on in many books is that luck and chance always save the day, happy endings all around, blah blah blah...
This book is sci-fi X game of thrones level bloodshed.
    Enough reading, just get it.
