Hmmmmm loyalty of the reader

After the success of dune why would you release such an inferior 2nd book unless cashing in?? Glad I was listening to it rather than reading it or I would never have got to the end. It was like an epic movie followed by a budget made for TV sequal... best I can say is was something to listen to while walking the dog.. Don't think I can face the 3rd book now tho😢

Not as good as the first book

This book is much more political than the first and is less enjoyable as a result. It is still worth listening to and the production of the audio book is extremely good

Great narration, brilliant character work.

A cracking story of the Dune universe. Tackling massive topics of betrayal, honour, legacy and the burden of greatness. Brilliantly narrated and every character is given life and purpose.

Boring!

I remember being besotted with this book in my 20s. I'm now in my 80s, and wondering why!
Very indulgent over names and titles etc, take them out, and not a lot of story. Not going to look at the sequels.

Sahara God

when I first started to listen to dune it felt different and interesting bit of a mix of bible and the Lawrence of Arabia but with a sci Fi in it the voice acting was great they had few of same voice actors from the first book and the story was interesting now that the main character is the Messiah and the emperor he can pretty much control everything but it focus more on words than a combat unlike the first book which changed everything but at least it not boring chain and alia are also giving more character than had before but yes definitely try this book out

excellent audio book

Well read, and good book, but unfortunately didn't quite live up to the first Dune book.

Needlessly confusing narration

I can hear the voices of the same cast as the first book, but instead of one narrator and everyone else in the same parts, the narrator keeps changing, it's surprisingly annoying. Shame cause I loved the first audiobook.

couldn't make it through the books - this is great

This series is intensely good value for money. I recall losing interest in the books many years ago. For 1 credit I get 20h of beautiful narration and a great story.

more female narration

no need to praise the story as it's a timeless tale.
great effort from narrators to build the tension to tge finale and if I have one request it would be more female narration for the female characters. it's a small thing to an otherwise a fab listen that leaves me groping to order children
