It used to be true that "dead men tell no tales". But Zimm Industries has changed that, forever. Dr. Thaddeus Zimm has come up with a way to bring the dead back long enough for them to tell their stories, and the story the authorities most want to hear is how they died. Who did it, why did they do it, and did they happen to mention where they might be going next? The Zimm Industries procedure has changed the face of murder investigation, and field technicians are routinely called upon to bring dead victims of violent crime back and interview them. One field tech, Matt Freeman, has been at it for a while, now. Matt discovers that there's another side to Dr. Zimm's formula, and he finds himself caught in the middle. It's a dangerous, diabolical use of the new technology, and Matt soon learns there is more to life than just staying alive. Matt talks to dead people for a living, but the hard part now is, not becoming one of them!

"Fun story. Narration gets better and better"
Yes. It's a fun take on the over done genre of zombie stories
Dale Dudley did a great job. I will listen to anything he Narrates.
"Light and Fun"
The main characters are reasonable well-developed and the plot moves along nicely. The world-building is well done.
The book has a whimsy that reminds me a bit of Snow Crash. It is almost a cozy version of the zombie genre along the lines of iZombie
Like other books by the author, this is well written and enjoyable. After reading however, the book doesn't really stick with you which is why I consider it somewhat light reading.
"listened to in my car."
couldn't wait to get in my car to go to work. very nice job with the characters voices. not over acted.
"A must read!"
Great story and very easy to listen to. A new twist on a zombie book and this one is going to keep you guessing!
Wasn't sure what to expect. I downloaded because Dale Dudley narrated but really got hooked on the story. I couldn't stop listening!!!
OIA! Thought the book was great, found it hard to stop listening. Narration was great, loved the characters voices! Awesome
"Great fun story"
Great fun take on zombies.
I don't like zombies stories at all. I avoid them like the plague, no pun intended. If the description had giving even a hint of that I would never have given it a second look.
no spoilers here.
"I just hate Zombies! but… ."
Ok I really don't like Zombie books. I rarely read Zombie books. But Mike Lee writes absolutely wondeful stories. This Zombie story is different, it isn't post apocalyptic nor dystopian. It is just an almost real time interesting take on " What I did over my summer vacation " or " Zombies are nice guys too" simply a fun light tale.
I haven't read anything like this, as I tend to avoid the Genre. But if I must make a comparison, I will.I'd say this would like be a very light Michael Crighton's Prey. Just as Prey isn't his strongest book as Dr. Zimm isn't, these are both strong enjoyable writers able craft an interesting tale from any premis.
When Matt Freeman is first "Packed" by a brand new under qualified and under trained technician.
Crime solving into the next century, my "life" as a Zombie.
Mike Lee is an absolutely wonderful author. Granted among Horkers Law, Fey and Starfire this least favorite. But it's definitely good enough to break from the Zombie genre into enjoyable SciFi.
This book is the most interesting of any the audio books I've read. I normally just listen to audio books in the car, but I ended up listening to Dr. Zimm's Elixir in the home
For me the most memorable moment in the story is when the main character wakes up from an explosion and thinks he is a (wait for it) ...zombie!
The narrator did a good job on the characters voices. The hardest to do for a male narrator is the female parts. He performed well for all of the characters voices.
As I got further and further into the story I found that I wanted to listen more and more. If I could of I probaly would have liked to listen to "Dr. Zimm's" in one sitting
I really enjoyed this book. It is not your typical zombie book. If you're looking for a zombie apocalypse story this isn't one. It is really a "who done it" book with an inventive twist using zombies.
Definitely made my commute shorter and more interesting. So yes, a good listen.
Interesting and believable take on reanimation. Liked the novel concept and thorough character development.
Not in an audio book. Been a fan of Dale's radio show for 16 years. I normally only listen to educational and work related audio books. Because of the narrator I picked this as my first fiction book for my commute and was not disappointed. Well performed
Yes, already have a crush on Frankie. Perhaps Lana Parrilla
Thanks Dale for steering toward this book. Do more narrations and I'll listen.
