A really good listen

What made the experience of listening to Double Share the most enjoyable?

The out come where the bullies get there comeuppance, plus I didn't expect the ending.

What other book might you compare Double Share to, and why?

I can't say that I have read/listened too another story line the same as this, it is a good heartening storey line, because there are no aliens trying to wipeout man kind.

Have you listened to any of Jeffrey Kafer’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Jeffrey Käfer makes the storey come alive, he is one of the narrators that I look for when purchasing a book, because he never does a bad one.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Sail to the ends of the universe.

Just excellent in story, delivery and narraration.

Can't wait for the next book. Already downloading.
Read the previous books first though! You will fall in love with the characters.

Edgy staff issues in outer space

Well done again to Jeffrey Kafer for an excellent performance.

Although I enjoyed the previous books, I felt there was a lack of natural human conflict. Wang seemed incredibly lucky and talented. Nathan Lowell made up for it in this book by having real nasty pieces of work on a difficult ship.

Wong's solutions would not have been mine. But for the purposes of this story his optimistic team building works. Very Ted Lasso. His luck doesn't fail him. Everybody likes him by the end.

I think, despite its faults, this is one of the stronger stories of the series. The facts that it addressed workplace bullying and sexual predators long before me-too is to the wtiter's credit. I found myself thinking how I might solve the problems light years from help.

One of the best series I have listened to

Ishmael is now adrift from the Academy, on his own, and the action soon takes off.

However, in his inimitable way, Ishmael seems to deal with everything that is thrown at him in the manner of a man twice his age.

Just Awesome.

Almost forgot I had this, and then got so excited to listen this week, I was truly sad that it ended.

I still Iadmit I wasn't sure on this one, after the last book had such a sad undertone. And for it being so many years after the academy... but I was pleasantly surprised, this was in fact much better than I'd thought.

I do think you do have to suspend your disbelief a little over the fact that there really was no way to get rid of the Captain of the Tinker in the 5 years he'd been running it into the ground. But, the journey that Ish goes through while asserting his place on the ship and within ranks of the crew is really good, really trying for him, but good for us. He's almost a little bit too good to be true, you know good looks, smart, and just knows everything about everything. I am really waiting for him to come up against something that he really doesn't know how to fix, not just to seemingly do everything right all the time.

Still this novel had a lot of fun, a lot of sad situations though, the fact that the guys on the Tinker thought most of the women were there just to be used, did grate against my skin a lot. Glad it was soon starting to stop though because of Ish and his harem.

Nice work to both Jeffery Kafer and Nathan Lowell and I think as I've said on the other series I'm waiting on hurry up and hit publish on the next :)

Great story, terrible narration

I love this series and had been looking forward to having my own copy of this again, it's just a crying shame that the narration is dire. The same voice is used throughout without any hint of inflection - which makes it difficult to pick up character emotion (a key part of the story and character growth). It's not the worst I've ever heard, but it's pretty close, sadly

This is a great story set in the golden age of sail, urm, solar clippers? The protagonist is totally clueless, yet completely brilliant and thrown straight into a terrible situation which looks to be completely out of his control to do anything about. And I'm not just talking about the fact that the coffee tastes just like burnt engine oil...
