Summary

In dieser faszinierenden Parabel wird die Geschichte von Michael Thomas erzählt, einem scheinbar gewöhnlichen Mann, der in Minnesota geboren wurde und nun in Los Angeles arbeitet. Er stellt den Prototyp des normalen - und unzufriedenen - Amerikaners dar. Nach einem Überfall, der ihn in Todesgefahr bringt, wird Michael von einem weisen Engel besucht und gefragt, was er sich in Wahrheit vom Leben wünscht. Michael antwortet, dass er eigentlich "nach Hause" gehen möchte!

Um sein endgültiges Ziel zu erreichen, muss Michael zunächst eine Reihe von Abenteuern und Prüfungen in einem erstaunlichen Land von Engelwesen, weisen Lehrern und finsteren Kreaturen bestehen. Michaels Suche ist ergreifend, humorvoll, faszinierend und spannend bis zum Schluss.
