One man. One ghost. The fate of our world.
When Rohan finds that a betrayal and near-death experience leave him with mysterious powers, it's up to him to stop a man with dark magic from opening a portal to the dead.
His only help is in the form of a ghost who doesn't remember who she is or why she's there.
Will this odd duo of the spiritual and magical realms be enough to save the world?

I enjoyed listening to Rohan's story, Justin Sloan has a way of keeping my in suspense and Michael Tamburrino brought the words to life. I highly recommend listening to this book, you won't be disappointed
"A Noble Quest Goes Way Wrong"
Death, Hell, Heroism
The hero started out with a small personal goal but moved to a larger global one!
I was constantly surprised by this book and never knew what would happen next!
A noble quest for lost love leading to not artifacts but a mystic skull, betrayal, and all hell breaking loose literarily made for a stunning story with fabulous narration! I loved this book!
You want me to rank my children. LOL? I've been privileged to listen to a lot of amazing books. My preference is for longer books--either complicated world systems, or books describing generations of families (a la Ken Follett). I liked this book and would place it squarely in the middle.
I found the plot/premise to be very interesting. The horror aspects were well written and I was successfully creeped out!
I believe this is the first book I've listened to that is narrated by Michael Tamburrino. His voice characterization was amazing. Each character was given life and personality in a unique way.
I found the horror aspects of the story to be, well, horrifying. Usually zombies make me laugh (I know, I'm not normal) but the ones in this book aren't comical...they're scary.
The book started off a little slow for me--I had neglected to read any blurb about the book so I kept wondering what this book was about. So, I put the book aside a few times in order to listen to other books. I regret that I did so. The only reason I mention this is to assure anyone who encounters the same issue to just hang in there because once the action starts it is a whirlwind! I really enjoyed the book and look forward to any others in the series.
"An enjoyable story of love and loss."
how far would you go to get back the love of your life? If you said "I'd do anything" would that include (with no training) a commando raid against a vastly superior force? In the mountains? the Ural mountains? would you resort to necromancy? would you be able to remain true to yourself through all this? Buckle up, the ride gets bumpy from here.
"Plenty of action and some cool plot twists"
A friend recommended this book to me. It isn’t my preferred genre, so I wasn’t sure if I would like it or not. I was pleasantly surprised. It’s a good book with plenty of action, and--kudos to the authors--there are even some cool plot twists that I never would have expected. Hand-in-hand with the cool plot twists, there were some really deep emotions, and for me, that combination really made the book special.
Corrine. You'll have to listen to the book to learn more, because that name is the only spoiler you'll get from me.
"Great story and narration of characters!"
Great story that pulls you in from the start! Loved the cast of characters and the flawless transition by the narrator. This was my first sci-fi book and I loved it and would recommend it for any age!The story is written and narrated in such a way that allows the listener to vividly imagine each and every scene from start to finish! Bravo and look forward to listening to book 2!
Yes - Very descriptive
The narrator did an excellent job with the different characters and accents. His voice along with the descriptions used in each scene made it seem as though I was right there.
Into the Light
Waiting for the next one.
"Great Beginning To An Exciting Series!!!"
Overall I enjoyed the audio version of Death Marked. At times I thought more inflection could be used, the narrator seemed monotone at times. The story itself was very interesting. I admit that I very much disliked Rohan in the beginning.. He seemed spineless and I was not believing that he would just blindly follow these strangers and do whatever they said - but then I thought about it and actually many people would do anything to get a loved one back so I came to understand why he was the way he was. I look forward to reading book 2 to see where the story goes from here.

"Not quite there for me."
I'm generally a fan of urban fantasy, books but this one didn't quite work for me. I found the book to be confusing, didn't feel as if there was an adequate explanation of how magic worked within the world I honestly felt as if the author had this awesome story in his head and yet in the process of getting out of his head and on to paper, parts of it got left behind. I'm sure he understood how everything worked and went together, but as a reader I just felt lost part of the time. It was an interesting concept but the execution didn't quite work for me. This is the first book by Sloan I've read and I'm sure it won't be my last, but I'm not certain if I'll continue on with this series or not.
