In the fast-paced Breakers series, humanity faces not one apocalypse, but two: first a lethal pandemic, then a war against those who made the virus. It's been six years since the plague and Tristan has spent five of them in Maui with her brother Alden. Life seems quiet. Simple. Peaceful. All these illusions are torn away when she discovers an alien installation hidden in the mountains. In response, she prepares a boat and starts work on a new home deep in the forest. But the locals don't appreciate her raiding their town for supplies. Soon, their resentment flares into open war - and draws the attention of the aliens, who bomb the area relentlessly. With their home and lives in ruin, Tristan and Alden flee deep into the jungle of Hana. And discover a secret paradise. Yet it's not meant to last. Off the coast of China, Ness and his alien ally Sebastian are tracking an alien conspiracy. Its tendrils will lead them straight to Maui - and pull humanity to the brink of extinction.

I had been a bit disappointed with the last book in the series however this one was a nice surprise and I found myself really enjoying it.
Would highly recommend the series.
The different characters and story lines offer a wide selection of stories and themes, almost like different books, not all of them are good though and I'm loosing interest in the series.
love these series, fantastic book to listen to, read so well by the narrator and good story that leaves you guessing what's next can't wait to listen to book 6 shame it's not on audible
I really, really enjoyed the 'Breakers' series so far, but I don't feel that this book is anywhere near as good as the ones previous. Perhaps the author is starting to struggle coming up with something new and fresh in the series and it's starting to show here. Having said that, still a lot more entertaining than many audiobooks out there and definitely worth getting if you've enjoyed the series so far.
"Another Robertson winner!"
I so enjoyed the ebooks that I wanted to listen to the audible version of all of this series. Yes they are so worth reading twice! I am now caught up on the series in book ebook and audible and eagerly awaiting the next in line. Lots of action, excitement, fun characters that you get to love and a kick butt story line. Buy it now whether ebook or audible. The reader is SPOT ON.
I cannot reveal any plot line!
One of the best readers I've heard. I often cringe when I buy an audible book and don't know the reader. Ray Chase is spot on.
I cannot reveal any plot line!
Don't hesitate to buy anything of Edward Robertson's. Great writing, fun stories, characters that grab you.
"Excellent Series of Human Disasters on many levels"
Each book in the series has a great cast of characters. All through out the series, it was enjoyable to hear about characters introduced in previous chapters show up again in later books. The characters were well done and fit into the story very nicely. Cut Off wrapped up the story very well.
That is a very tough question to answer. I enjoyed the dark humor as narrated by Ray Chase. Any character with this dark humor side is ranked high on my list. Even then I still cannot pick out a favorite without back spacing over my previous choice. There were loads of bad characters, but it's funny I cannot remember their names like I remember these core characters that were all good.
Yes, but only in between reading one of these books. I really enjoy his narration style and humor. Although I wonder if it is actually the author's humor expressed by Ray Chase. In any case, I plan to look for another book that Ray Chase has narrated.
No extreme reactions. No allergies, viruses or coughs. Although I did laugh quite often by the dark humor, as previously mentioned.
I really enjoyed the series of books so much I hate to see the experience end. I am not sure if a continuing story line is possible, but if another book is written by the same author/narrator combo, count me in.
"Ray Chase is a BEAST!"
He actually literally voices a Beast in the novel, well an alien-beast to be exact!
Ray Chase narrates Robertson's story to the point where you can visualize every action in the tale. Partner him with this tale of pandemic, invasion, and drama, and it's a wild ride that you won't want to stop!
I highly recommend the series and am anxiously anticipating my drive home so I can begin the next part of the saga-Captives!
I really enjoyed this book feel like each one is getting better than the last
Much better than book 4, now really looking forward to book 6! I'll be a bit sad when it ends.
"This is the book they lost me"
So boring. I stuck with it through the aliens. That actually made sense to me, but this? This is beating a dead horse. I'm officially finished following this series.
"Good series but..."
This is my fifth book in this series and I have enjoyed them but I have a bit of an issue with the characters and the narrator only amplifies these issues. EVERY character is incredibly sarcastic making them all blend together. On top of that, the narrator has only three voices and one of them, comically, is a perfect impression of the newer Batman. It took me hours of listening before I would stop grinning every time he would do the voice. Also, why does an alien sound so weird when he only communicates with signing? Yup, more grinning like an idiot.
"wonderful story sad it's almost over.,"
the performance and story are just wonderful. it's been a hell of a ride and SAS that it's almost over..
"Worth Becoming Listen But Becoming Repetitive"
The writing and narration are still excellent, yet, the continuation of the underlying premise of the story, human survivalists against alien genocidal invaders, is beginning to fray my enthusiasm a bit due to the repetitive nature of the quests. While there is progress and success in thwarting the aliens continued desire to extinguish humanity; instead of measurable forward movement, it's more like extinguishing newly discovered hot spots rather than building fire breaks to contain the forest fire.
was nice to see Ness and Sabastion working together. Long standing characters are always the best. Lots of action and detail. One of the best apocalyptic series out there
