Growing up on Rainshadow, Charlotte Enright knew better than to ever go into the Preserve, until that one fateful night with Slade Attridge - a night neither of them would forget.
Now, 15 years later, both have returned to the island: Charlotte to take over her late aunt's antiques shop and Slade to fill the police chief's position. Able to read auras, Charlotte senses something amiss in Slade, but that doesn't stop her from wanting him - again. That is, as long as his dust bunny "deputy" keeps his paws off her merchandise.
Hiding a psi injury, Slade is afraid of his powerful desire for Charlotte. But a series of increasingly violent crimes draws them closer together - and into the darkness at the heart of the Preserve....

"It is what it is"
If you've read any of these, then you know what you're getting into; this is more of the same and just as good as the rest. No surprises, ugly or otherwise. And yet, for a way to spend a few hours, it is as worth the time spent as the rest of them. For me, at my age, being worth the time is really quite an accolade.
"What a night"
Yes, I always enjoy the stories that take me into Harmony.
I always get a kick from the dust bunnies
They way she vocalizes the charterers
Enjoyed the adventure
"I like the new Harmony setting."
A good listen however short.
For me it was knowing at once what the doll was from earlier Arcane Society stories.
Yes, I listen to 4+ books a week and although I'm not one to care who reads them I do care that they are read well. I find this one read well and with a pleasant voice. I also find this book to be comparable to others in the Harmony/Arcane series.
The kids run for cover.
I'm looking forward to more island adventures.
"the chief and the shop owner."
Books by Jayne castle are always a fun read. I have enjoyed this book as I have any other Jayne Castle books definitely recommend it.
"ANOTHER GREAT ARCANE BOOK"
This arcane book, is as good as the first and I hope won't be the last. Leaves me wondering at the end, if there won't be more.
"I've read worse"
The very beginning was good then it dragged. It didn't get real interesting again until after the half way mark. I liked the first two books better.
"Didn't hold my attention"
Listening to a book is always a slow process and, even though I adore Jayne Castle, I had a hard time wading through the audio.
"great book in typical jayne castle style"
This lived up to expectations created by book 1 and 2. I can't wait for book 4.
I've listen to Jayne for years and this story was a little stronger. The different characters and location takes the story into a different direction.
Adding new people at the end was somthing new for Jayne.
Joyce has a strong voice and that makes is easy to listen.
The fact that the main character was so giving was a nice touch.
I'm interested in seeing where this story goes.
"A Good Read"
This was not really a Part 3 of the Looking Glass Trilogy, imo. More of a future side bar; it still was a good read.
I believe I would like to know what is going on inside the Reserve. Which will probably generate a whole other Trilogy.
credible, confident, comfortable.
I don't believe so.
