A classic adventure from the creator of Drizzt!
High in the Snowflake Mountains sits the Edificant Library, a place of scholarly study for priests, bards, and others. Now from the hidden vaults beneath the library a devastating curse is unleashed, and a young cleric must battle the terrifying creatures set loose by a malevolent, consuming essence that's been released, before his own brethren turn against him. Cadderly must put his studies to the test and enter the catacombs far below to save his brothers and himself.

"Great Start to A High Fantasy Series"
Great start to a high fantasy series by R.A. Salvatore. The audio performance is superbly done by Victor Bevine. It is a slow start at building the environment and the characters, with everything built up to the actions in last few chapters. The story flows nicely, and writing is beautiful. I hung in there for the first few chapters; once I got hold on the characters, it becomes a page-turner, with a YA romance budding (yes!). I look forward to the next book!
"An evil curse has been unleashed and no one knows!"
Canticle: Forgotten Realms The Cleric Quintet Book 1
An evil curse has been unleashed upon the inhabitants of the Library which is a center of both learning and protection for the land. As the library degrades into state where almost everyone is following their most base desires with the dedication of a sociopath, a priest and a druid seem to be the only ones who haven't lost their minds. As the deaths mount, the library is being searched to find the source of the evil curse.
Unfortunately, the designer of the curse is adept at raising undead help to defend the curse. With the help of the undead and a demon conjured from the infernal plane of existence, the priest's work is deadly dangerous at best.
As the priest begins his search he finds that if he can distract people from their base desires, that he can get some help from them. With the aid of a druid, two dwarves, and martial arts master, he begins his quest to stop the evil.
I enjoyed this book.
Best Regards, Anthony
"Salvatore has a knack for D&D driven stories"
Basically writing review to say that Skyrim character creators must be wasted on people like Rosslyn (see review below)
Yes I would it's not as perfect as the drizzt books but pretty close
Danika she is great
All of them
Just love it
Thank you ra and audible
"it's R A Salvatore after all"
I won't review the book itself, if you know Salvatore, you know his writing. he uses a lot of descriptors.
I think the issue is, listening compared to reading, you pick up every sentence instead of skimming past the descriptors.
how many times can the squirrel be "more than a causal....fill in the blank"
RA Salvatore tends to use far too many descriptors things in his writing.
a solid writing style peppered with over use of the same descriptors throughout all the books.
get my point?
lol how many times I can use the word DESCRIPTORS in one small paragraph.
a great series none the less.
i've always been a fan of R.A. Salvatores works but Victor Bevine brings his characters to life in a whole new way
I wish I knew about this small series before listening "The Neverwinter Series". I'm glad the author is doing back stories on other characters.
"3rd person dialogues got old"
third person dialogues
none, I kept waiting for something to happen, but had to give up.
disappointment. Loved the dark elf books but this was painful to try and listen to.
"A fun, if average, story."
Exactly what one would expect from the author of the ice wind dale trilogy. Fairly well told Dnd adventure through the lens of a handful of characters.
"good author and narrator "
love salvarore and the narrator did a great job. I am glad I gave it a try.
