Like most people who own their own business, I work long hours that start early in the morning. So when someone calls me in the middle of the night, they'd better be dying....
Mechanic Mercy Thompson is woken at 3:00 a.m. by a vampire calling in a favour. He has to deliver a message to a fellow undead and needs a witness who won't be noticed - and Mercy's shapeshifting abilities make her the perfect candidate.
But the assignment turns into a bloodbath, and Mercy attracts the attention of not just a powerful vampire but the even more powerful demon possessing him. She can count on the supernatural community for protection - and alpha werewolf Adam would like her to rely on him in other ways too - but when it comes to being proactive, she's on her own.

"Plenty of twists and turns.... Kept me entertained from its deceptively innocent beginning to its can't -put-it-down end." (Kim Harrison, best-selling author of Dead Witch Walking)
great array of character brought to life with her voice

Really pleased to be able to purchase these on Audible UK site . I read the series a while ago but now plan to listen to them all too . Lorelie is one of the best narrators in the business and always adds so much to every book she narrates .
Well worth the credit . In fact I have just treated myself to 3 extra credits as I cannot wait to hear the whole series .
I enjoyed reading these books as Patricia Briggs writes an entertaining tale . Lorelie just improves them! It's nice to see The way the romance develops between Mercy and Adam .
The whole package!
The story is quite gripping as Mercy works her way through a series of perilous situations. The narration is perfect, and the characters believable - which is a bit hard to grasp when they are generally werewolves vampires and a shifter
Obviously its similar to the first in this series Moon Called - which I would recommend reading first as it sets the scene - Blood Called is even better though. Its good to compare this series with the Sookie Stackhouse (Charlaine Harris) and Jane Yellowrock (Faith Hunter) series and so far this series is at least as good as both those
Hard to say too much without giving spoilers but the scene where Mercy is attacked by the baddie when alone in her home at night is genuinely scary
A few bits made me laugh - its not a tear jerker book by any means though - just an entertaining page turning romp.
Just about to download the next book in the series, I cant wait to find out what happens to our heroine next.
