The Wizards Guild has been shattered by a coup and, in the uproar, Geralt was seriously injured. The Witcher is supposed to be a guardian of the innocent, a protector of those in need, a defender against powerful and dangerous monsters that prey on men in dark times. But now that dark times have fallen upon the world, Geralt is helpless until he has recovered from his injuries.
While war rages across all of the lands, the future of magic is under threat and those sorcerers who survive are determined to protect it. It's an impossible situation in which to find one girl - Ciri, the heiress to the throne of Cintra, has vanished - until a rumour places her in the Niflgaard court, preparing to marry the Emperor. Injured or not, Geralt has a rescue mission on his hands.
This is the third of the Witcher novels by Andrzej Sapkowski. Read by Peter Kenny.

great narrator, kept guessing as destiny and war turns the world upside down as Geralt seeks Ciri, providing another reason to hate portals atleast, few twists and turns as the time for Neutrality has long passed.
A great continuation of a great series.
With less of a focus on Siri, we mainly explore with Geralt and his newly acquired fellowship. I suppose it's hardly an original premise but it's a strong choice for the series and gives it some much needed focus and direction.
Great to listen to enjoyed it no end , well drawn characters and good dialogue , fun, witty and interestingly characterised in region British accents .
Am waiting for next episode
I'll not seek out the Withcher books to listen to, but if chance offers me another one, I'll not decline. Though suffering from being a part in the series and therefore - a distinct lack of coherent story structure, it was well written.
I'm most impressed by the preformance. With so many characters still having them distinct, reading swiftly and making dialogs sound like dialogs in real life, yet maintain comperhensability. Loved it!
I picked it up as "the best of the rest" in a "two for one" deal where the first was a book I wanted. Don't regret it.
"With a lisp"
Everybody lisps with a scottish (?) accent.
Though Kenny grows on you... So 3 instead of 1!
