Publisher's Summary

Xebdigon Whizzfiddle is a wizard who has to find a quest, get it contracted, and finish it to the letter within 30 days or he'll lose his guild membership status, meaning he'll have to actually work for a living. At the perpetual age of 650, this is really no longer an option.

After interviewing countless people who are looking for a wizard to quest with, Whizzfiddle all but gives up. But then one last questing party arrives, and they're the oddest bunch he's seen in a long time - and being a wizard in the land of Ononokin, that's saying something!

They have to traverse the portals from the Upperworld to the Underworld; deal with Trolls, Ogres, Gorgans, Orcs, and, worst of all...Humans; survive the land of professional salespeople; go through the afterlife; and fight to avoid Whizzfiddle's disgruntled past-apprentice's attempts to thwart them at every turn.

Going through all of this makes Whizzfiddle wonder if maybe he shouldn't just give up magic and go back to his roots of being a farmer.

"Terry Pratchett was, and always will be, Amazing! But I think these guys are definitely worthy successors!"

Well, I would definitely recommend this book to anybody who loves the work of Sir Terry Pratchett, The master of satirical fantasy. Logsdon and Young haven't set out to copy the disk world series in any way. The only similarity really is that the setting is a fantasy world with its own rules and systems, and of course, a heavy dose of satire. But that's pretty much where the similarity ends. This new series of books brings to life a whole new cast of characters in a completely new and original way, and the narrator Jus Sargeant does a fantastic job in giving every character a very distinct and unique personality. The plot was clever, with some interesting twists and turns, and there were definitely many laughs along the way. The production value is incredibly high, no dogs barking in the background or birds singing outside the studio window. All-round a great audiobook for anybody looking for a laugh and a great fantasy listen! I would highly recommend it, and I can't wait for the next book in the series.

    "An enjoyable light hearted romp"

thoroughly enjoyable, with some very silly pun play that had me laughing out loud. I've been looking for something similar to Discworld, and this might just fill the enormous gap left by Sir Terry's passing. I look forward to the rest of the seried

"A surprisingly charming tale of magic."

This charming, whimsical, funny and slightly light-hearted tale is expertly narrated and written. Each character has their own clear voices, goals, and personality. It was a joy to listen to this from start to finish, it was well paced and you never quite knew what was going to happen next only that it was going to be both interesting and just a little odd. It will make you smile and may make you laugh.

The setting very much reminds me of the Discworld,I would be very interested in learning more about it and finding out what the characters get up to next in their lives.

I would happy listen to another book written by John P. Logsdon and Christopher P. Young. Judging by this book any book narrated by Jus Sargeant is going to be enhanced by it.

I would strongly recommend this book definitely well worth a listen.

    "Brilliant"

Loved this. After losing my hero Sir Terry Pratchet been looking for an author that could write in a similar vein. I shall now become lost in the Land of Ononokin. The narrator gave voices to the characters and brought them to life. High recommend to all disc world fanatics.

    "A fun little story"
Where does A Quest of Undoing rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's up there! It's funny, it's entertaining. It doesn't have dull moments, the story flows really well and there are laugh-out-loud moments in there!

What did you like best about this story?

The jokes come naturally, they don't feel forced. Insides jokes all over the place and it's just an overall fun book!

What about Jus Sargeant’s performance did you like?

Give that man an Oscar! I listen to A LOT of audiobooks and this man is a MASTER! I have never listen to such a good performance! He absolutely makes this story great!

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It had a few laugh out loud moments and a lot of "exhaling air through my nose real fast" moments :D

    "Great fun"
Would you listen to A Quest of Undoing again? Why?

I would read it again. i listen to audiobooks in the car - I always find details can get missed meaning I never get bored re-listening.

What did you like best about this story?

Loved the characters. They were really diverse and fun.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

My favorite bit? The final chapters probably but I guess I shouldn't give details her in case they give too much away.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I used to sit in the car for a few minutes longer at the end of every journey as I didn't want to turn the book off yet.

    Any additional comments?

Funny stories. nicely read. Great combination

"D&D style world with hilarious twist story"

Welcome to a wizard who must complete a quest in order to maintain his status with His guild. Wizards in this world each gain their power in a unique way...this wizard gains His through alcohol. The quest he chooses is on of undoing. The spell that was wrought is highly amusing and the characters it was cast on are even more so. Get ready for an entertaining funny romp through a fantasy world of epic proportions. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

The characters and situations are hilarious! Logston and Young have an enormous amount of talent and imagination. All of their other storylines are just as entertaining. I have all of their books in my library and look forward to rereading all of them.

    "Excelent narator and story."

Jus Sargeant get an A+ from me for separation of every characters voice effectively. Its not that they just sound different from each other either. They sound like the character should sound, raspy, or slow, or deep ect. The book is not a serious one and great to read before bed or when you just need to lift your mood. The overall feel reminds me of Terry Pratchett a little. I am picking up the next book in the series right now.

    "Lighthearted, funny flight of fantasy"
Would you try another book from John P. Logsdon and Christopher P. Young and/or Jus Sargeant?

Logsdon and Young have worked on a number of lighthearted comic fantasy and sci-fi stories. I thought the Ononokin universe was innovative, interesting and funny. The differences between the upper and lower worlds intrigue me, as does the concept of wizards needing to come into contact with a very specific magical essence in order to cast spells.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

I enjoyed the gradual reveal as to the precise nature and application of Treneth of Dahl's magical essence!

What does Jus Sargeant bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I would not consider myself likely to read a book in this genre in print version from the library. Having the story and characterisation performed skilfully by a narrator makes it a lot more fun and Jus Sargeant's work rendering the characters doesn't disappoint. His Gungren and the orcs are particularly amusing.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    Perhaps.

"Good for fans of Douglas Adams & Terry Pratchett"

The late Douglas Adams and Sir Terry Pratchett can never be replaced but in their absence I was in need of more humorous stories in sci-fi/fantasy settings. The books in the Tales of Ononokin series by John P Logsdon have thus far been worth my time.

In this first installment, join Whizzfiddle the wizard as he gathers his party and goes on a quest filled with twists, turns and a few laughs along the way.
