Publisher's Summary

"A gripping read from start to finish! This BIG epic novel has it all, history, government conspiracies, alien abduction, space battles and treks across alien worlds-with a HOT female lead! The author knows how to tell a tale." - 5 Star Book Review

2287 A.D. is a #1 BEST SELLING novel, having sold over 100,000 copies in its first year.

SYNOPSIS:
2287 A.D. follows the lives of Ashlyn Parker and Steven Sherrah, the man who is in command of Earth's last surviving starship. He has been struggling to keep the handful of Earth's survivors alive, hiding from the most vicious and powerful enemy humanity has ever known, an enemy that is relentless in his determination to see that every last human is killed.

His life is turned upside down as Ashlyn, a woman genetically engineered to be mentally and physically perfect - the next step in humanity's evolution, awakens from stasis. For her protection, she had been cryogenically frozen when Earth was attacked. Her return is brutal, for she awakens fifteen years later into a post-apocalyptic Earth to find that everyone she had known before is gone, the world destroyed.

From the first moment that her distress signal is received and Steven rescues Ashlyn, his heart is inexplicably drawn to her, as she is to him. Her presence challenges his loyalty to those whom he loves and all that he has ever known. For within Ashlyn, she holds the secret to a shared past that he had never known existed. A past which will take them back in time almost 7,000 years, where they will journey through strange new worlds, changing the history of the universe for all time, and our understanding of everything as we know it.

    "A weak try"

I was disappointed in this book. the book sounded like a through back to the cheesy Si-Fi stories of the 1950's and 60's. It really lacked gravitas.

    "Annoying"

I liked the idea of story based on Anunaki and really there was no surprise in that regard. Nothing new or original though. I expected pulp and that's what I got. So any irregularities, illogical behavior or predictable twists are all part of it.
What really ruined it for me though is annoying, obnoxious, ridiculous, sound effects wannabe. I really don't know what to call it? Why would you take pulp science fiction story and butcher it with sudden, random noises?
Anyway, the story is ok, but read it, don't listen to this version.

"This book is not ready for publucation"
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

This is a decent first draft but needs a lot more development work. None of the concepts are new. Well, the graphic sex towards the end of the story might be. The ideas need to be thought through more carefully. The abilities given to the heroes are great, but random and not accessed consistently. And having a villain that can't be defeated no matter what's done to him seems like a bad idea. The sound effects were poorly done and need to go. The narrator has a great voice but his delivery is wooden and amateurish, and his voices for the different characters are silly. I think this could be a good story, but not in its current state. It needs more work.

    "Just plain awful"
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

The narration in this book is just awful. There is nothing redeeming about the story or performance. I could not finish the story, so bad, want my credit back...

    "Pull the sound effects out."
Is there anything you would change about this book?

Remove the sound effects, they are very cheesy and detract from the story.

Would you recommend 2287 AD to your friends? Why or why not?

    NO

How could the performance have been better?

Not sure if the narration is the problem... The story is weak too... I kept having the feeling that the book is targeted to a teenage boy audience.

Did 2287 AD inspire you to do anything?

To think twice before purchasing any other books by this author or narrator.

    "Great story, dodgy sound effects"

Drop the sound effects. They really distracted from the story and were quite tacky. But a great story weaving many aspects of religion, myth and conspiracy theory.

"Get a new Narrator for God's sake!"

Interesting story. Cheesy writing. Absolutely horrible narrating. The Sci-Fi geek in me kept me going, but it's the worst-narrated book I've ever heard. Almost didn't finish it because of that reason.

I want to know what happens in the next book, but I'm not sure I can make it through another one.

"Suffered 20 mins and returned it !"

This the most pathetic audio book I've ever come across. The sound effects are childish, the prose is stilted, kinda 50's, and the performance is so wooden you risk getting splinters. I did jump ahead several chapters but it was consistently bad.

IF you're over 12 yrs, DON'T bother. Between the horrid sound effects & reader pauses, I had to force myself to listen for most of the book. In the end, I couldn't take it anymore.
