What brings peace in the midst of life's struggle? Pat Livingston's talk is filled with humor and touching stories that attempt to answer this question. She speaks of being reassured that struggle and suffering fill every book of the Bible. Hebrew creation arises from an abyss of chaos. Praise psalms focus on deliverance from turmoil. In the daily experience of living as a disciple, we discover God's peace sustains us. Recorded before a live audience at Cincinnati, Ohio's Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish.

When I bought the book, I wasn't sure what to expect. She spoke softly but with passion. Clearly she spoke based on her experience. She talked about struggle and pain but didn't stop there. Pat wanted her listeners to see God in their pain. She stressed the need to see God working something out. I like her analogies and the many stories. So I'm sitting down at my desk at work and tears flowed a number of times. She suggests living as disciple; this is hard. We look for shortcuts and want the pain or misfortune to end. We look around and see other people and wonder why we are different and why things are not the way we want them to be. But here Pat talks about acceptance and looking to God. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Excellent book and well read out too!
