It offers practical how-to advice on raising difficult-to-handle children and incorporates the latest research with Dr. Dobson's legendary wit and wisdom.
The New Strong-Willed Child is being rushed to press for parents needing help dealing with sibling rivalry, adhd, low self-esteem, and other important issues. This audiobook is a must-listen for parents and teachers struggling to raise and teach children who are convinced they should be able to live by their own rules!

"Answer to my prayers!"
I was referred to this book by a friend when I was about to throw the towel in on homeschooling. I was frustrated and cried daily. My son was testing me every minute of every day and my children were fighting all the time. This book had me in tears...not sad tears but years of relief! It only took 2 days to get through this wonderful book. In these past 2 days I can see a difference in my household already!!!! Thank God for this book and Mr Dobson!
The interview with the moms of strong-willed children was very helpful. I've recommended this book to many of my friends. Every child has a strong will in some senses, but some are truly more challenging and Dr. Dobson offers sound advice for us as parents.
"Born again christian based"
Was disappointed by the born again view point of this book. Especially since it wasn't mentioned in the description or reviews. The introduction tells how the author beat his recalcitrant dachshund with a belt??? Later on a mother tells how she had to discipline her 5 year old daughter by putting her in the garage! Then prays over her every day asking the holy spirit for guidance. Really???
This is a very good book. Very insightful and definitely has helped thus far. Thank you Dr. Dobson for your ministry and commitment to the family and may the Lord continue to bless you.
"So glad I chose the audio version!"
Wonderful book. I chose this audiobook because I was wanted different ideas for raising my daughter. After reading this I felt encouraged and empowered. My favorite chapter was with the live interviews from one of his radio shows. I thoroughly enjoyed that addition.
"a real disappointment from Dobson."
another preachy sermon that gets real off topic, raising strong willed children, and just wants you to pray. no thanks. I'm in the real world and need real solutions. let me save you the time and money, you are already doing what Dobson may suggest, and he offers no New or Helpful techniques. he mainly wants you to spank, be firm, be loving and then pray and spank some more. That's about it.
"Not what I was expecting..."
I was looking for a book that I could identify on how to raise an strong-willed child, and I could not get past chapter one.
The conversations sounded fake and rehearsed. I could not get any ideas on how this book could help me, and it mentioned too much religion. Since I am not religious, this book was not for me.
"Great for Any Parent"
My daughter is 2 now & I think this will be a book I read annually. I think things will be more relevant as the years go by.
Christians, with no proclivity for critical thinking.
Not written it.
This is a terrible parenting book. If you have a strong-willed child, listen to this author's advice if you want your kid to get worse. It's premise is that kids want to fight with you. They don't. It's premise is that if you want your kid to behave, beat them, fight them and win, and ignore what they are saying. This is clearly ludicrous. This leads to your kids finding ways to hide what they are doing when they can, and fight with you the rest of the time. The books quotes the bible for parenting advice. The bible is a terrible book for parenting advice. Besides being thousands of years old, it's advice is based on strong-willed authors, that don't listen and can't learn. The author of this book gets defensive at times and says things like "John Locke" had it all wrong. John Locke died over 200 years ago. Are you kidding me? If you want to connect to your kids, ESPECIALLY, your strong-willed kids, try something like "How to Talk so Your Kids Will Listen. . " or "The Whole Brained Child". It is nice to hear the stories in Dobson's book to know I'm not alone in this challenge. It's also nice to know that I'm doing something right, as I'm doing very little of what the author recommends. Save yourself some heartache, read this book only if you want to know how "not" to parent.
"Very practical..Helpful Stuff!"
