I deeply enjoyed this workshop. Having attended some by other Aramaic scholars, Klotz' work is credible and enlightening. Since it is more of a workshop than a book, some parts are not appropriate for car listening, so be aware of that.
"The First Step"
I found this book to be the first step in bring Christain thinking into this time. It led me on to the path of understanding that what happen in the time of Jesus is still happening today. That the kingdom of God, Jesus spoke about isn't coming but is here and now if you would but seek. Giving insides into other traditions of teaching granting new meanings to old text for me, I found dry. At first I found it strange and too new age for me then I wonder if what I call new age was actually more old age. A time before the church was a church. Taking it's thinking with Gospel of John and Gospel of Thomas, I came to a new understanding for me when Jesus said "No one can point and say it's here or it's there for the Kingdom of God is inside you."

"Douglas-Klotz: Hidden Gospel (Audible) - inspiring"
Yes - Hidden Gospel is presented by the author which lends sincerity and conviction to his inspiring message. Neil Douglas-Klotz is obviously very familiar with Aramaic and other Semitic languages, and his sensitivity to the message of the mystic Jesus allows a gospel of hope, truth and openness to be delivered with a freshness and power that has been obscured for millenia!
Neil Douglas-Klotz's message is fairly unique, and I can compare this book only to Prayers of the Cosmos, by the same author.
Jesus's Beatitudes take on powerful significance when the Aramaic original is considered. My favourite is the significance of the third beatitude (
A particularly moving section was the chant which combines the names of GOD in Arabic, Aramaic and Hebrew, representing a move to peace and tolerance in the Middle East, and the
An inspiring Audible book - this would qualify as
Neil Douglas-Klotz is such an underrated teacher. His style is very gentle and accessible, but the spiritual wisdom he unlocks through his translations of the Aramaic words of Jesus is nothing short of revolutionary. I would strongly recommend this audio program as a excellent introduction to Neil's other work (Original Prayer, Healing Breath, I Am).
Great musicians that gies along with the story. Can't tell you enough about this book! If you want to learn Aramaic it's the perfect listen to start with.
Neil narrates his books better than anyone else can. His journey of the discovery of his beliefs is fascinating and similar to many, I suspect. He makes the words of Jesus finally make sense.
"The Hidden Gospel"
This book is more about chanting and mysticism than objective information. There is a bit of interesting insite into translations, but the vast majority is limited to new versions of old Christian mysticism. I did not regard it as a good use of my time.
"comforting and and enlightening"
