Too few people attending church today, even those in evangelical churches, are exposed to the gospel explicitly. Sure, many will hear about Jesus, and about being good and avoiding bad, but the gospel message simply isn't there--at least not in its specificity and its fullness. Inspired by the needs of both the overchurched and the unchurched, and bolstered by the common neglect of the explicit gospel within Christianity, Matt Chandler has written this punchy treatise. He begins with the specifics of the gospel--outlining what it is and what it is not--and then switches gears to focus on the fullness of the gospel and its massive implications on both personal and cosmic levels. Recognizing our tendency to fixate on either the micro or macro aspects of the gospel, Chandler also warns us of the dangers on either side--of becoming overly individualistic or syncretistic. Here is a call to true Christianity, to know the gospel explicitly, and to unite the church on the amazing grounds of the good news of Jesus!

Yes because it helped me retain the information better
The last three chapters on the dangers of the gospel on the ground or in the air too long
What you probably know but need to hear over and over again
Well done! Thoughtfully written. Definitely worth listening to. It is the "explicit" gospel for a reason.
"Tell It Like It Is"
Explicit Gospel is just what the book is named. Share it. Believe it. Live it. It explains the differences of the law, being moral and understanding what grace really means. It either gets you on the right track or confirms your walk.
Encouraging and convicting. A jewel to be used in discipleship and personal devotion. The gospel alone saves, sanctifies, and secures.
"A great refocus on a life lived for checklists"
I have recently begun a spiritual reformation of my life. I have been a Christian most of my life, and I think many of the gospel truths I have known. But I greatly appreciate the way that Matt Chandler lays out the explicit gospel in an easy to understand and passionate format.
More than once I found myself listening to a concept in the book, and then I would ask myself what does he mean by that?
Almost every single time the next sentence Matt would say was the clarification I was seeking with my question.
I am going to relisten to this book again immediately, after I spent some time in prayer and scriptures. The only thing this book may lack is in an audio format you don't always get scripture references, but I'm not sure if the print edition has them either such as footnotes.
For someone who desires a scripturally based return to the first love of the gospel, I can't recommend this book more.
"an incredible, eye opening blessing"
Matt Chandler's writings and thoughts in this book have been a great journey - and I can listen again whenever I want!
"Rightly dividing the word of God..."
This audio was a great encouragement to me on my journey in life. I am not an accident. God has a purpose for me...to live and speak the full gospel truth at all times...no matter the cost.
The Explicit Gospel is Straightforward. No water added. The true gospel should, and must be presented... We need to stop waiting for others to be the bearers of the good news... We must equip ourselves, know the truth and speak the truth.
"Great for Gospel Centered Church communities."
there is a strong emphasis on a balance of Grace and Truth. God Bless Matt Chandler. you've written something that has solid truth.
The good news as it should be known and heard, renews your spirit for what we are called to as believers and the hope and love we have through Christ!
"Field guide for the Gospel."
Fantastic book. I plan to pick up the paper copy to reference. Thank you Matt.
