Publisher's Summary

We all love the benefits of technology and social media, but even with the incredible upsides, many of us suspect there are unintended negative consequences that are beyond our control. We've lost perspective, even perhaps ourselves. In this timely and life-changing new audiobook, New York Times best-selling author and pastor of LifeChurch.tv Craig Groeschel encourages listeners who are hungry to regain control over their lives and put Christ first again. He walks them through biblical values that all Christ followers know are essential but are even more important for our maxed-out, selfie-centered world.

The more you compare, the less satisfied you are. The more we interact online, the more we crave face-to-face intimacy, but the harder it is to find. The more filtered our lives become, the more challenging it is to be authentic. The more information about the pain in the world we're exposed to, the more difficult it is to care.

It's time to refresh and rediscover our understanding of the biblical principles that life with Christ brings: contentment, intimacy, authenticity, compassion, rest, and more. Groeschel taps in to some of the most up-to-date studies on the effects of social media on our emotions and our friendships. And he offers real-life examples of how we struggle with social media, how it masks our real struggles, and how we can reclaim a Christ-centered life.

With helpful appendices like the "10 Commandments of Using Social Media to Strengthen Your Faith" and "Creating Safeguards for Your Digital Devices", you'll find #Struggles to be just the guide to bring balance and real-life engagement to your everyday life.

Being from the generation right before the internet, I can appreciate what life was pre- and post internet. I noticed almost immediately when I had regular access to the internet how 'captivating' it was becoming....and THEN Social Media hit me. From 2006 to current, I've been addicted! I really am THAT person. I rue the day I bought my first smart phone, and yet... This book hit me and freed me from wondering "WHY" am I #struggling so bad with my life? Being good enough, smart enough, friendly enough, witty enough, patient enough, pretty enough, fit enough, Christian enough.... #Struggles pointed me to a HUGE cause of my struggle. I appreciate the FREEDOM I will soon have from taking a heart look at my internet connection.

"I kept hoping it would get deeper..."
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I think this would be a good book for a beginner christian. It was basic level stuff, nothing very thought-provoking.

What could Craig Groeschel have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Added information at the end of each chapter on the best ways to unplug from the world or how to use social media in a more christian-based light.

    Any additional comments?

It got very repetitive and ended flat.

    "Challenging and Helpful"

This has a lot to take in for those of us who are immersed in social media. Lots to think about. I like the way there were not only personal stories mixed with data but also accounts by others in text format of their own struggles in this area.

I really enjoyed this book. It was really well written. I especially appreciated the advice on how to add filters to your devices and protect your children from dangerous material digitally.

Helpful analysis of addictive smartphone behavior. Might be useful for prevention or intervention. Author's performance conveyed both humor and compassion. The appendix resources were thoughtful for putting principles into practice.
