There is nothing as precious in life as a friend who knows you and loves you in spite of yourself. Yet over the last couple of decades, we've substituted the joy of real friendship with cheap imitations. We settle for "community" on Facebook and Twitter and a series of text messages that allow us to communicate with someone without the commitment. We like each other's beautifully filtered photos on Instagram and delude ourselves into believing we have a community. But real friendship requires effort. It's showing up, laughing loud, and crying hard. It's forgiving and loving and giving the benefit of the doubt. It's making a casserole, doing a carpool pickup, and making sure she knows those cute shoes are 50 percent off.
Written in the same comedic style as the New York Times best sellers Sparkly Green Earrings and The Antelope in the Living Room, Nobody's Cuter Than You is a laugh-out-loud look at the special bond that exists between friends and a poignant celebration of all the extraordinary people God had the good sense to bring into our lives at exactly the right moments. From the friendships we develop over a lifetime to the ones that wounded us and the ones that taught us to love better, Melanie Shankle reveals the influence our friends have on who we were, who we are, and who we will become. And on a day when our jeans feel too tight, our chins have decided to embrace hormone-related acne reminiscent of our teen years, and our kids have tested the limits of our sanity, they are the ones who will look at us and say, "Nobody's cuter than you!"

"Sweet Memoir about the Value of True Friendship"
Melanie tells her story by reading it herself. It brought out several emotions in me, beginning with the importance of friends in early childhood. The author was able to provide great depth of her relationships with others her age throughout the years, and the way in which the friendships enriched her life. She shared her feelings and experiences with refreshing honesty. I cried often throughout the book, so keep some tissues handy. And by all means, don't try to listen to it while shopping in public or on your way to work unless you have fresh makeup to reapply. A nice read that I enjoyed very much.
"A new friend found in the pages"
Loved the whole book. Laughed out loud, wiped tears, shook my head & shouted AMEN! numerous times.
"Always Love Melanie!"
Melanie Shankle is one of my favorite stories tellers! She makes me LOL & leaves me wishing I could listen to her all day long, love her voice!
"A Must Read"
Such a wonderful book that whimsically tells you story after story of what a true human bond is all about and meant to do.
I love to listen to Melanie shankle read her own book! It adds so much to the heart and humor of the book! I listened to Antelope In The Living Room and loved it so I knew that this would be one to look forward to. I savored the book and made it last as long as I could, yet I am still sad to see it end. Listening to these heartfelt stories reminds me of my greatest friends and what makes life all that much sweeter. Love it!
"Most heartwarming book I've read in a long time..."
Love love love! I would recommend this book to every woman every where who had ever had the good fortune of close friends.
"What a wonderful book!"
Thank you Melanie Shankle for such a beautiful book! I had tears in my eyes at almost every chapter and feel so many similarities with your life and my mine!
Nobody's funnier than Melanie Shankle. You will laugh and cry and want to call all of your old friends.
"Laugh, cry and laugh again!"
My only complaint is that this book ended too soon! I felt like I was right there walking down memory lane with Melanie! She paints a vivid picture of friendship including the times when she fell short.
This was a beautifully written honest portrayal of the loving bonds of women experiencing the ups and downs of life as best friends!
"Big Mama at Her Best"
If you are a fan of her blog or the Big Boo Cast you NEEEED this book. Absolutely nothing better than having the author read it the way she wrote it. I just don't know how she did it without breaking down or breaking up. She had me laughing and crying and she is the one who lived it all. Caused some real reflection as I pondered my own friendships. This will be gifted to others and my list keeps growing.
