Interruptions: They're aggravating - sometimes infuriating. They make us want to tell people what we think of them. But how we handle interruptions actually tell us more about ourselves. The prophet Jonah's existence was interrupted by a call of God that would require a complete change of life. And it scared him enough to make him run in the opposite direction. Yet, what seemed to him to be an unnecessary and useless interruption was really an opportunity for Jonah to be involved in something the likes of which the Old Testament world had never seen before. This interruption was really a divine intervention and it held more adventure and possibility than he could have ever imagined.
We, like Jonah, tend to run from interruptions. When major pains and minor problems cause a hiccup in our carefully calculated plans and goals we head in the opposite direction. Who knows what we might be missing by running from what could very well be God's means of steering us towards the most magnificent outcome of our lives. Jonah could tell us a story or two. So could you. And so does popular conference speaker and author Priscilla Shirer in this very personal account of opportunities lost and lessons learned - and the amazing freedom and fulfillment that comes from going with God even when He's going against your grain.

i just couldn't get through listening because of the narration. The content of the book was fantastic. I am planning to buy it to read myself. I will sell back this audiobook - sorry to say it is not one to listen to.
the narrator totally detracted from the content.
"Needs Priscilla's Narration"
I hope Priscilla Shirer will re-record this wonderful book in her own voice. She does a beautiful job on her other book, The Resolution for Women--far better than the narration on this book.
"Disappointed not read by author"
Initially, I was surprised not to hear the author narrating this book. That would have and still is my preference. It has taken awhile to acclimate to a different narrator and thus, has slowed down listening to the book. I hope that this will be re-recorded with the author's voice. Hearing the intonations, affirmations and just the encouraging, emphatic voice of Priscilla Shirer is encouraging and uplifting and promotes a greater impact on enjoying the book and pondering/aborbing the content. This narrator is okay, but since Priscilla Shirer is a speaker, fans/followers of her have heard her voice. And, once one has heard her reassuring, commanding, yet gentle voice, there is absolutely no comparison or acceptable substitute. Of course, the content of the book is excellent. Listening via Audible is very convenient, but I implore Audible to please change the narrator. It makes a difference.
It's taken me September til now to progress through the book. Great read though! Check it out!
"Great book. The narration not so much."
I loved the book and the story. It gives a new light on those little interruptions in life. But the narrator was not so great.
A great book I'd recommend.
I of course just so happen to begin the book at the perfect time. No running from my Nineveh.
My only dislike was the reader; the voice was very soft and for me to have read other books by and heard the author speak several times I didn't feel as though the audible voice matched the "voice" of the story nor the passion of the author.
HOWEVER the message is one that is so important that focus must shift to that and not be distracted by the reader's voice.
"powerful read related to Jonah that blesses"
this is a well written book that takes Jonas experience and allows the believer to related to their life. There are so many application points and opportunities for powerful moments of reflection.
"Relevant, relatable and challenging!"
Relevant, relatable and challenging!
Loved it and highly recommend as it helps us to see our modern 'inconveniences', failures, sorrows, and suffering as opportunities for our God to do His work.
I now have a new perspective on life interruptions. I would recommend this book to anyone. This was a great book!
Loved it! Sometimes life's unplanned disasters are just God's plan and purpose to get you back on track according to His will and not ours.
