"You get out what you put in"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, this is a useful guide for getting to grips with the Bible. Cuts through the mystery of textual criticism.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

    Not a work of fiction

What about Tom Parks’s performance did you like?

Clear and easy to listen to

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, in fact I kept skipping back. I have a paper copy also, which is perhaps better for this kind of book, i.e. one that needs a lot of application.

    Any additional comments?

Good to listen to but I'd recommend getting a hard copy also. You need to put in a fair bit of work to get the best out of this book.

"You need to want to know"
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I wouldn't recommend this book, as it's quite dreary. Don't misunderstand me, I don't expect gripping action from it, just a bit more life.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

Get all of it right. He stops, trips on his words, and coughs at one point.

Did How to Read the Bible for All Its Worth inspire you to do anything?

    Sleep.

    Any additional comments?

Not really. I think I'm becoming depressed.

    :-) Joking.

    "No Chapters!"
What disappointed you about How to Read the Bible for All Its Worth?

Beware this audible version just gives you 2 huge files. I hate that. I would much prefer it in chapters breaks at least, if not chapter breaks every 5-7 minutes or reading.

"An attempted bridge between scholar and layman"

Though the authors are clearly sophisticated scholars, still they retain a high view of scripture.
This is a helpful work for laymen who are interested in approaching scripture in a more scholarly way. The information shared is quite technical, yet it is geared to help educate the layman (like myself) and there are frequent examples provided, from Scripture, to help illustrate the principles discussed. Much of it has to do with understanding the different genres in scripture and the unique ways in which one must approach them. There's likely something in here for any burgeoning Bible student.

The recording was choppy. I would have liked to hear the rules in which lead to their deductions.
