Publisher's Summary

The best-selling author Deepak Chopra is back with a new work that explores the seven ways we experience God. As Chopra explains, these experiences are shaped not by any one religion but by an instinct that is hard-wired into the brain. In this remarkable work, Chopra takes us, step by step, from the first stage, in which the brain's "fight or flight" response yields us the experience of a God who is an all-powerful parent, to the seventh stage, in which the brain experiences God as pure being, a sacred presence that just is. All seven stages are available to us at all times.

In How to Know God, Chopra charts a fascinating course for us, as we explore mysticism, religious ecstasy, genius, telepathy, multiple personality, and clairvoyance, drawing insights from psychology, neurology, and physics, as well as the great religions.

What the Critics Say

"I congratulate Dr. Deepak Chopra for this wonderful book, reaching out to many, many readers, on a subject of spirituality but with a scientific approach. And I absolutely agree with Dr. Chopra's view that 'if we want to change the world, we have to begin by changing ourselves.' This is the same message that I have always been conveying." (The Dalai Lama)

I am a poetic writer who loves the way words paint a picture. I love the spoke word. My dream is to write, speak, and inspire others now.

    "Amazingly Eye Opening"
Would you consider the audio edition of How to Know God to be better than the print version?

Yes, I think I would have gotten lost in a printed version as the concepts are quite complex.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I nearly cried toward the end but I can barely explain why.

    Any additional comments?

Wonderful mind expanding view of our existence.

    "Can't Understand Accent - Frustrating."
Would you try another book from Deepak Chopra and/or Deepak Chopra?

As much as I like him, I don't think I would try another book if he is the narrator.

What do you think your next listen will be?

More Eckhart Tolle. He is easy to listen to and understand.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

His heavy accent combined with a fairly low/soft voice makes it really difficult to follow. I like to listen to books on earbuds while I'm at work, and I had to rewind so many times to figure out what he just said, that I never even followed his story. It may be different in a super quiet room with no other distractions.

What character would you cut from How to Know God?

I don't think it's that kind of book - but I couldn't understand him, so maybe it is? Maybe it isn't?
