Summary

As one of the foremost evangelical thinkers of the 20th century, Francis Schaeffer long pondered the fate of declining Western culture. In this brilliant book, he analyzed the reasons for modern society's state of affairs and presented the only viable alternative: living by the Christian ethic, acceptance of God's revelation, and total affirmation of the Bible's morals, values, and meaning.

How Should We Then Live? has become the benchmark for Christian worldview thinking today. This edition commemorates the 50th anniversary of L'Abri Fellowship, founded by Francis and Edith Schaeffer.

I'm almost tempted to believe that Francis Schaeffer foresaw the rise of Trump.

I read this as an ex-believer, but I found it thoroughly fascinating and would recommend it. It traces the evolution of philosophy, art, music and government down through the ages, from a ProtestantChristianperspective. Schaeffer's final warning is against the rise of Authoritarian government. American Christians especially should read this again and pay attention to the warning, but I suspect most would miss it or it ignore it, since 'personal peace and affluence' suit them too well. Recommend! Challenging, will listen again.

The first part comes across a little confusing, but as the picture builds it turns into a brilliant lead into the book.

Great freshness

Schaeffer's words are incredibly apt for describing our culture today even though he was writing in the 1970's.
