Dr. R. C. Sproul clearly and simply argues that at its core Christianity is rational. He focuses on defending the basic truth claims for two of the most crucial issues of apologetics: God's existence and the Bible's authority.
In this primer of apologetic thought, Dr. Sproul affirms four logical principles that are necessary for all real discussion and teaches you how to defend your faith in a faithless world. Using the writings of church fathers and philosophers throughout the ages, he uncovers the common ideologies that work against faith. The defense of the faith is not a luxury or an intellectual vanity. It is a task appointed by God that you should be able to give a reason for the hope that is in you as you bear witness before the world.

I had expected this book to be a collection of hard hitting arguments from science, archeology, prophecy, etc. for the divinity of the Bible. Instead it was an introduction to defending the faith from an almost purely philosophical perspective.
At first I was disappointed but as I listened I found myself intrigued with a side of Biblical apology that I had never considered. By the end of the book I was delighted with the purchase. Sproul does an excellent job showing how men think without God and how logic and rational thought will inevitably bring men to the knowledge that there is a God. I think it is one of the most educationally enlightening books I've read. I highly recommend it!
"This is a wonderful intro to apologetics"
R.C. Sproul has a effective understanding of apologetics and it's desperate need in this modern era. This book is a must for any one interested in sharing and defending Biblical Christinity
"Thouroughly enjoyed it."
This was my first delve into apologetics and R.C Sproul does a wonderful job of making complicated arguments comprehensible. Rob Dean, the narrator, does a great job. If you like apologetics, you'll love this book, I think.
This is not a layman's introduction to apologetics. This is a very technical textbook for graduate level philosophy students. At least, that's what it seemed like to me. I am not a stupid person, but I was lost through much of this. This is not the first apologetics book I've read/listened to, but this was the most difficult. I haven't finished it yet and I'm not sure I will. Very advanced and uses highly technical language. I would only recommend this only if you have a firm foundation of philosophy and logic.
"Profundo en contenido. Smooth al escuchar."
Me encanto. El autor del libro presenta sus propuestas muy bien argumentadas y de manera objetiva. Realmente te hace razonar.
Además, el narrador le trae emoción y personalidad a las palabras del autor, tanto que sientes que estas conversando con el mismo.
Amazing book. This book must be read by every Christian who seeks to be strong in faith and in knowledge of absolute truth.
"Great way to strengthen your faith!"
Powerful, Motivating, Concrete.
How the use of many early theologians and scholarly people are brought into the arena.
I don't remember much about that.
Yes. Though it is a lot of information to process so maybe better to split it up the second time you listen to it!
"Made me think"
I knew I would listen to it again.I plan to listen to it over and over till it sticks. Best narrator I've heard.
"Introduction to defending our faith."
Excellent audio book that looks into the dynamics of the defending our Christian faith. I really enjoyed this audio book.
"Sloppy and Illogical premises"
This book is not about apologetics as the discipline is traditionally conceived. This is a polemic, not a work of philosophy or theology. DO NOT PURCHASE.
the genre is okay, but this particular one is awful.
I am unsure.
all of it.
